Re: Why does it seems like no one understands Rin?
But that coupled with the fact that, when I once asked him how much of Rin's arc was due to his own experiences, he straight up said that pretty much everything within it was a fabrication of his own mind and wasn't drawn from his life experiences at all, yeah...that's what leads me to my whole 'Ma...

Re: Cheating and KS.
I think it's an awful lot of extrapolation from very limited data, but ok, that's the game. Generally, I would be careful with absolute black and white answers. It is difficult to identify a cheater in advance, but I think it could happen to many depending on the state of their relationship. Hanako ...

Re: What age did Emi lose her virginity?
Excuse me, I am very new to this whole thing. Although I have a pretty clear idea of the intention behind this thread, there is still something I'd like to know. This 'Emi the slut' meme is surprisingly common. Is there a story behind it? Did people ever argue that seriously? Did I miss the great Is...

Re: Yamaku student body, architecture, etc.
It could be something that occasionally happens in real-life institutions, too. They have high 'list prices' but reduced rates for students from low-income families, scholarships for gifted students etc. That way you have diverse student body overall, but things can be really though for average inco...

Re: Yamaku student body, architecture, etc.
I am a little surprised that Yamaku seems so tiny to some here. In my class in a perfectly unremarkable public German school we were seventy-something students. Granted, that school covered nine years resulting in a much higher total because of the typical structure of the school system here. Also, ...

Re: Yamaku student body, architecture, etc.
Feel free to talk about the Japanese education system too (in contrast to Western ones) or other related stuff, I don't know. Then I hope you don't mind if I add a question of my own. What are those important exams about? Do those mark the end of the term? Initially I thought they marked the end of...

Re: What movie do you think would be each girl's favourite?
That's an unexpected choice. I think it is a great movie, but not one I would have thought of in a million years. Is there a particular reason why you think she would like it?Oddball wrote:Having just watched it, I bet Hanako would have really liked Gran Torino.

Re: KS Changes my view on life
The bad way is that it makes me think about my life, basically saying that my life is absolute garbage right now and I should go out there and find someone, especially Emi. [...] Another view on life this game has taught me was that life is so innocent and so are the people, everyone in Yamaku is s...

Re: The meaning of Katawa Shoujo.
Of course the possible meanings of a work are often highly subjective, but personally I don't see the meaning of Katawa Shoujo as a statement about disability. For me the whole disability angle is more plot device than message. It defines the setting and it provides a 'surface' conflict for each of ...

Re: Your first ending?
Oh, I see how that was unclear. I didn't. I decided not to talk to her mother although I suspected that it was meant to be a good idea. So I got the roundabout good end.Xanatos wrote: ...Then why did you bypass her?

Re: Your first ending?
Like so many others, Emi, but the 'second best' ending. I understood that the earlier hints likely meat that I should talk to her mother, but I wasn't really comfortable with bypassing her. All in all Emi is still my favorite. Playing her path first may have helped with that, but it certainly wasn't...

Re: How'd you find yourself here?
Like several others I found Katawa Shoujo itself via TVTropes. That was about two weeks ago. I don't remember which trope page started it, but it was completely by accident. It was also the first VN that I ever finished or even attempted remotely seriously. I enjoy reading reviews and discussions of...

Re: What movie do you think would be each girl's favourite?
I think some of the suggestions for Emi ignore her romantic* streak. She may not be serious when she plans to be a pirate, but there's a reason why the idea appeals to her on some level.
My suggestion: The Princess Bride
(* as in romanticism, not necessarily as in love story)
