Hanako's scarring is hidden from view most of the time At a distance. Not up close... Yes, but it's not as super-glaring as an amputated limb. You could probably tell something like that from a good distance away, if they weren't using prosthetic limbs, or in Emi's case, fake limbs with like, socks...
