Re: A Week of Memories part 6: You and Me

The blog post stated, "Something that has really blown us off our feet has been the large amounts of incredibly emotional response to Katawa Shoujo that we've seen. I've seen people confessing having cried after playing KS, or otherwise feeling moved... I mean, if even one single person's life ...

Re: A Week of Memories part 5: Lessons Learned

I have seen any number of promising fan projects fall apart. It's kind of amazing that more than a handful of things which fans do together actually reach completion. Especially when people can't or won't charge money for the final product. I'm still surprised that Katawa Shoujo did not become a pay...

Re: Recommend a VN

So what about something that actually has a good story and interesting setting? Started thinking about what I've been reading lately which I can recommend. Keep in mind that I don't take games and fiction especially seriously. If I start it up on my computer or console, then I'm already halfway to ...

Re: Recommend a VN

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties was an anomaly -- I believe it was intended as a full motion game, but it didn't quite work out. Regardless, it wasn't noticed by many fans, and has been largely forgotten. Until recently, there have been very few commercial western video games which are centered around rela...

Re: Is katawa Shoujo the gateway drug of visual novels?

It was about ten years ago when I was reading reviews on animetric.com. Because of that site's bishoujo game reviews, I bought Three Sisters Story. Only found it somewhat appealing (the story emphasized revenge, and there was a mandatory unpleasant torture scene). A few months after that, I ordered ...

Re: Katawa Shounen

This thread is relevant to my interests. After all, I make no apologies for my bromantic love for Kanji Tatsumi , or declaring that Sakuya Morimura is my "husbando." Furthermore, I spent quite a bit of time playing RE: Alistair and the fan translated version of Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Sid...

Re: How'd you find yourself here?

I heard about Katawa Shoujo through various visual novel / romance game sites and forums. I think I first about it by 2008, and I made sure to read the demo shortly after its release. My interest can probably be traced all the way back to the early 90s, when I first read about visual novels in a Nin...

Re: Reach for the Stars

I figured I'd finally join the Katawa Shoujo forum in order to discuss this topic. Hopefully my reply won't be TL;DR, or a double post... Right now, there is only a modest number of people reading and creating visual novels in English. Fandom is smaller than anime/manga fandom, and much smaller than...
