Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180218 'Schwäche' by WetCrate)

Can we have, moving forward, some sort of notice that says, "hey guys, this is pre-whatever canon"? I'll try to do that. But I think pre-2012 you can make allowances, post-2012 or so there is no excuse for breaking canon. What do you think? I don't think we need to make any kind of notice...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180218 'Schwäche' by WetCrate)

Also for context, since some of the comments seem to have missed it, this was posted May 27, 2009. Act 1 was released on April 29, 2009. The Canon was much smaller back then, with a lot more unknowns. It's really not fair to judge it for inconsistencies with post-Act 1 Canon. Can we have, moving fo...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180218 'Schwäche' by WetCrate)

The passing reference to Hanako's "family issues" struck me as odd somehow. Just say she didn't have family and would feel bad alone. She's not got family issues in the ordinary sense so you need to specify. In general, I liked the way the author writes ("A croak escaped Hisao's lips ...

You poor person. Nobody to play monopoly with. Shizune would join you....

Anyways, welcome to the forums!

I wonder what that says about me.
That's a good question lol. Are you happy with what you got? :P

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180204 'Birthday' by Nevice)

I agree that the new banner is too much. It's very aggressive and in-your-face, unnecessarily so. I even tried to drag her but my strength was not enough. I was only a child. This line struck a chord with me. The narrative switches between Hanako's experience as a child and Hanako's reflections on t...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180114 'Some Lilly Scene' by Lulz)

Whelp... You managed to make a sad end even sadder - Congratulations, I guess :-) I think Mirage sums it up best, in terms of its plot and contribution to the EU. It explores the aftermath well and paints a concise picture of how Shizune might have felt, and it does it well. I noticed there was lit...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180114 'Some Lilly Scene' by Lulz)

On update frequency, i was thinking a week for any one-shot story, 2 weeks for anything 5 chapters or shorter (give or take) and if we ever do one of those mega huge long stories, at least a month for the main story, while we do short one-shots at the same time. Seems reasonable to me, though I fee...

First off, I think it's a great idea to revive this club. Hopefully we get some good conversations going so the forums are more active. I think the inaugural fic was an... interesting choice, however. It's already been pointed out but man, do the characterizations seems different from the source. Li...

Re: Forced Perspective - A Misaki Kawana Pseudo Route

I enjoyed this but I wish we could witness some more of the discussion they share. Hisao goes into this conversation feeling bad. He's just had a heart blip, he's hiding from his friends, he's feeling sorry for himself, and then he's happy. How does that happen? Also, the switch from Hisao reflectin...

Re: "The New Year" S8 Submission: For - WillDFly

It's the sort of story you have to read twice to fully understand it, I think, not that it would be a hardship to read it again. I thoroughly enjoyed the interruptions to the rhythm you set and the imagery deployed made me jealous to read. As to playing within the bounds of the prompt, I think you d...

Re: Dark Winter Sky (S8)

I haven't read many of the other S8 submissions and I'm not sure if I need to. That was.... excellent. Not a character was out of place and I would say you played well within the bounds of the prompt. Your descriptions were succinct and the whole story was well thought out. Great work!

Re: 8S-Lights Out for Craftyatom

The alternate universe thing was an odd choice, but the story itself worked. I'm curious as to how Hanako and Hisao's relationship has worked so far if he doesn't know her past though. I'm curious too, to be honest. It was a risk choice to use an alternate universe, I'll admit, but I felt that I co...

Re: 8S-Lights Out for Craftyatom

Nice story. Was the AltUniverse part of the prompt? No it was not. I just thought it would be more interesting if I didn't pick up where the route had left off. What exactly WAS the prompt? "Hisao and Hanako (who are dating at this point) are visiting Lilly late in the evening when the power g...

Thanks, Oddball. I don't blame you at all. I blame that Stiles guy! What a nerd!

I enjoyed the story though. I hope your holidays went well and thank you for the laughs. I wouldn't have guessed Rin would be getting a dog, but it sure worked well.
