I insticively got Hanako the first time... then I tried the others, but I didn't get the feeling of happiness/completeness that I got with Hanako. The second playthrough yielded Shizune's ending, which was well written.

That non- retardiness is achievable by human kind VN developing? :P I think non-retardedness for VN's is basically no supernatural/out of the ordinary stuff like spirits, ghosts or time travel... I had my share of confusion thanks to Ever17... I don't want KS confusing me...

Coincidentally, both of the mentioned trends in visual novels are pretty damn retarded. Well then why don't you do something about it. wait... Speaking of endings. I just recently started playing VN's (starting with KS). I have to say that the VN with one of the most powerful endings was the Tsugum...

I like the stories, very imaginative and entertaining... but I do agree with the others about "Walking stick" story... the amount of running Hisao does may be a bit too extreme for him, otherwise, a decent story. '

You could also put Misha in the tank behind Shizune.
