I think the problem is that it does bruise, even if it's not you who's affected by such false beliefs. It can cause hurt to other people , that's why it's not okay. If something doesn't effect you, but you become offended because it might offend others, you're being offended on the behalf of others...

I just think its funny seeing people get offended on the behalf of others in a thread that has, at least up to this point, been about how white-knighting is largely foolish and destructive.

Good, white knights are lame and usually fail. I know from experience.

First girlfriend, white knight complex, 2 years of miserably destructive co-dependance. Fast forward to present day. More honesty, 8 years of relationship and 4 of marriage. We don't even hate each other yet!

As long as nobody is making money and nobody is claiming credit for work they didn't do, there is zero shadiness here.

Deaf/Mute. I could still play hockey, read, and enjoy a good story in a videogame without hearing any of it. Lol. You CAN'T have a 'widely accepted' definition of what constitutes 'good taste'. Tastefulness, humor, art, all of these things are ENTIRELY subjective. If you try to define such a thing, you will inevitably make a fool of yourself. These things have been up to peoples opinions since forever, yet...

Sorry. I like characters that are relatable and feel like real people.

If you want a fantasy, maybe pick up something that is based in a fantasy world rather than one centered on fictional characters based in OUR world. If you don't like it, don't play it.
