Re: In regards to Shizune
I don't know if KS is -that- well written, I mean... it's not said as an insult, but I don't think anyone is striving to compare to JRR Tolkien or George RR Martin here. However it is written well enough that it does not distract from the overall feeling of the game, which is what I'm enjoying trem...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Ah, I was just wondering since you seem to be taking a while to get through KS. It seems like you have plenty else to do, though.

Re: In regards to Shizune
Hmm...
Do you tend to read more slowly than hearing people?
(Of course, the fastest readers don't actually sound out the words in their head, and they have to train themselves to be able to do that.)

Re: In regards to Shizune
I have to admit though the end of her route in Act 1 had me scratching my head, where she spread her arms wide. My first thought was... is she asking for a hug? Then the game goes all insightful and stuff. I tilted my head and went... wait, what's going on? How'd Hisao get THAT out of... her spread...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Well, she said that the feeling of a person singing feels good on her chest, so I had the mental image of her resting her chest on someone's back as they sing, essentially hugging from behind. I found the idea cute.

Re: In regards to Shizune
Well yeah, I definitely understand it sounds better live. I just meant it in the sense that.. I can enjoy basically every music out of a box. But vocals, I can't enjoy at all unless I can feel the person. So it's a definite yes/no thing rather than... "I enjoy it better live". So do you t...

Re: In regards to Shizune
It's pretty much a given that music sounds better live. There was a jazz concert at my high school once, and the drum solos were incredible. There was even one song where they had to bring out a backup drummer because the solo was so long and complicated. How close do you have to be to the instrumen...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Rap is right at the bottom of my list. I LOVE classical music, especially solo pieces (Piano, guitar, drums, etc). My favorite is Beethoven's 9th Symphony. I also love a good singer, the feel on the chest is beautiful. Very few have the confidence to let me touch them while they sing, though, which...

Re: In regards to Shizune
I don't know if this is the case with deafness, but it seems likely. I remember reading about a man in a book by Oliver Sacks who went blind at 5, and then 50 or years later got an experimental surgery or something to let him see. He didn't know how the hell things looked like actually related to h...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Actually, now that I think about it, I can almost understand what stalk is getting at. While it's nowhere near what she has, I've been completely deaf in my left ear for most of my life, but it's never been a big issue for me and people don't tend to notice (this, of course, is where my condition di...

Re: In regards to Shizune
You know how you can feel your vocal cords vibrating when you talk, or even when you clear your throat or groan? Yeah, that's how. Edit: Though a deaf person trying to talk will always be less clear than if they were hearing. Try talking while wearing noise-cancelling headphones and blasting music; ...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Now I hope you don't mind me going back to the "giving you back your hearing" topic, but would you take the chance to have the ability to switch your hearing on and off, or to hear only things you want to hear? I would think that no person, deaf or not, would pass up the ability to listen ...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Act 1 Preview feedback thread
This is the first VN I've played and so far it's ace. It'd be nice if we could just have a "skip immediately to next choice" button, though. I know there's skip mode, but I'm talking about is "push button, receive choice dialogue". Expanding on that, since F/SN was my first VN, ...

Re: In regards to Shizune
Ouch, that sucks. People love putting off learning languages, even if it's for people they know well; I should've learned Portuguese ages ago, but I kept putting it off for various stupid reasons*. I don't blame you, especially with your own damn parents not following through. I know a guy on a for...
