Re: KS on Android?

ITT: Porting = game creation Now I know why I stopped posting here... Leotrak, it was more of leading up to the thing I said at the end, AKA 'if you're not gonna do it, then at least allow someone who would rather than shutting yourself off from the world'. Is there something inherently wrong with K...

Re: KS on Android?

I mean that Android is very much a rising platform that's only bound to get bigger - currently it's pretty much the Windows of mobile. I mean, some people spend years porting things to freakin homebrew on the DS, PSP, Wii, etc, and how many people actually run homebrew? I can guarantee it's a TON le...

Re: KS on Android?

Being how I'm a total "future-proofing" sucker, that kind of logic really doesn't jive with me, but oh well your funeral.

Re: Waveform clipping in music (aka NO GOOD!)

Are you sure you don't mean Replay Gain?

WaveGain actually physically adjusts the gain level to 89db, hence why I HIGHLY recommended upsampling to 24bits and/or higher during the WaveGain process (and obviously before the OGG vorbis conversion).

Re: Waveform clipping in music (aka NO GOOD!)

Heh, you're right about that. :P Good to hear!

It's particularly silly for games and VNs to participate in the loudness war since they usually have a built-in volume level coded in.

Waveform clipping in music (aka NO GOOD!)

Something I've been against for a while is the loudness war , which typically consists of waveform clipping and dynamic range compression. Now what KS has to do with it is that 7 songs have clipping in their waveforms, which is NO GOOD. (Luckily though I don't think any of the songs have any dynamic...

Re: Spin.mp4

3D effects that actually have anti-aliasing, now THAT is something!

It always seems like whenever those crazy Japanese do some cool 3D stuff, they NEVER use anti-aliasing. Glad to see you're not following their example!

Re: What exactly are we making here?

It would seem that some people still insist to call it a game or not...

Why can't we just call it something between novels and games and move on? Is there some sort of big deal that I'm missing?

Re: What exactly are we making here?

Also, oddly enough, the MangaGamer page says "The format of this product is a sound novel," and then two paragraphs later, "Nevertheless, this is a game, not a novel," although that might just be due to MG's typically shaky grasp of the English language than a straight contradic...

Re: What exactly are we making here?

About the VNs being games or not thing... The way I see it, there's a border between when something is called a game and something is called a novel. IMO, visual novels, especially ones with choices and branching plots, ARE the border. Also, one thing I've been thinking about a lot with VNs are e-bo...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Act 1 Preview feedback thread

Well, why didn't they? No seriously, they're not planning on leaving it like that for the final, are they? Don't worry about whether they'll fix things before the final release; they'll release it when it's done, not when they don't feel like working on it anymore. If they determine that the Emi sp...

I'm guessing that the "cleaned up" versions aren't done, which would certainly be a valid reason.

Dang it, I'm nowhere near done with Act 1 v3 and v4 is out now!

Guess it's back to the old drawing board...
