Re: Lustre - Chapter One: Hisao Nakai; journalist.

as rest of the space remains empty, Quick fix. I am enjoying this interpretation of Naomi and Natsume. Same here. I'm enjoying N&N's company more than Misaki's at the moment, but I'm sure that will soon change. You know, it wasn't until some weeks (or months) after the first chapter was posted ...

Re: Endorphin Rush - An Emilogue (UPDATED 5/8/14)

I knew this seemed familiar... but I was in a hurry this morning and didn't reread the thread. Well, if a story contains the same mistakes I'm bound to find the same mistakes again, am I not? Yeah, absolutely! I declare you innocent of any wrongdoing. :) I wonder if Johnny reposted his old version ...

Re: Endorphin Rush - An Emilogue (UPDATED 5/8/14)

Dad gives me a noogie and whispers to me. “You did good, son.” This bit really cracks me up. "You dun' gud there, ma boy." *Noogie* *Noogie* *Noogie* It seems really... un-Japanese?! :) Also, I have the strangest sense of deja-vu: Okay, first of all, try to use double spacing to make your...

That really was interesting and insightful. It's especially neat to read 'first time' interpretations, real or not, before players' views become moulded by the community.

Re: After the Dream—Misha's Arc (Complete)

Yep. Very nice! Ow... my heart. I think it needs a rest. In particular, it was really interesting throughout the arc how Misha told past events as though she were there, but with her older/mature PoV narrative (it even threw me off once or twice, and I had to wait a little while to make sense of it!).

Post and discuss your writing software set-up!

Post and discuss your writing software set-up! This is a Silentcook-approved thread (in concept only, of course), inspired by this post . Meaning - this is a dickie-bow, cigars and port affair. People are welcome to suggest and critic software, but do not proselytize operating systems. Not that I n...

Re: Steel

All right, well I gave it a read. The characters are kind of interesting, but the lack of polish is really jarring. I don't see anything particularly wrong with your English, but it just reads as though you haven't ever read it through after writing it. There are lots of missing words or dodgy spell...

Evocative...

...and horrifying.

Very realistic how you portrayed rape as an act of power, moreso than sex.

By some coincidence I learnt this word not long ago on a Polish YouTube video, and I remembered the meaning from when I read the comments!

Re: A very crunchy drawings thread

That looks very nice. I don't know nothing 'bout art, but the hair is all nice and interwoven, and the turquoise/aqua eye colour is nice. I assume works with a tablet would be better, but it's interesting to see the pencil sketches - it gives beginners realistic proof of where artists begin and how ...

Re: Endorphin Rush - An Emilogue (STILL WELCOMING EDITORS)

Griffon is quite correct. Johnny, there is an abundance of free web space these days, which you can always use to back up your work. http://drive.google.com has document formatting features, and thus is ideally suited to fiction writers. If you're looking for editors, I assume you already have an ac...

Re: After the Dream—Rin's Arc (Complete)

Yep. Writing from Rin PoV at seven different chronological points throughout her life has to be very difficult, and to me you've handled it meticulously. I was looking forward to Misha's PoV perhaps moreso than the other character's. I know I'm going to read it anyway, so I won't do the routine wher...

Re: After the Dream—Rin's Arc (Part 5 up 20140403)

I love all these... little details that get carefully woven in. Miki backstory. Not sure how I feel. Meiko the unflappable supermom. Outlives her daughter, finds second love with a doctor, is more of a mother to Rin than her own mother, takes care of the grandkids, keeps a cooool heaaad, a girl in t...

Re: Chapter 21

Cute! Always enjoy a 'Nakai family meets the girlfriend' scenario ^_^. "...you'd have to be a tenacious woman to get our Hisao to motivated." I think there's something not quite right here? I don't know how Misha did it. Aww... the past tense here makes me sad. Shizune and Hisao are moving...

Re: AtD—Hanako's Arc (Part 4 up 20140319)

I can't remember ever seeing an ugly university campus, and that one is no exception. Are we having a face-off of campus videos? If so, beat my old one! Now that I've had more time to digest this chapter, this line just doesn't sit right with me. “Many t-thanks, small one...” Hanako is the least lik...

Yeah, this Hanako arc almost feels like the saddest of them all to me so far, even surpassing Emi's.
