Re: Reading Katawa Shoujo to someone else
No, I didn't. Shizune is definitely German, because ordnung. Rin is Dutch, because w33d. Emi is probably British. Lilly is Canadian / Icelandic. Hanako is Japanese / Korean. Misha is Russian. Icelandic for Lilly is an excellent choice! I just don't have enough experience with the accent personally ...

Re: Reading Katawa Shoujo to someone else
The idea doesn't sound too bad, but I don't think I can read KS to someone else. I can't make 5 (at least) different female voices  Heh...it ain't easy, true. I wonder if giving each of the girls an accent would help. I haven't done it with this game, but I've done it in the past. Obviously Li...

Reading Katawa Shoujo to someone else
OK, so, I have put off my personal rerun of KS for a whole other project. I was discussing the game with a female friend of mine who is blind, and she became very interested in the concept. She has even less experience than I with games of this nature, and...well, she's a bit skittish about anything...

Re: How is KS similar to your life?
Well, I've already mentioned that I'm legally blind (although I'm not quite as bad as Kenji seems to be), and that I dated a totally blind girl for a year of whom Lilly reminds me a lot -- tall, with light hair (more light brown than blonde, though), from a fairly well-off family, and with what ever...

Re: Is KS fandom dying?
Even if I didn't 100% the game yet, as soon as I'll get it done I'd like to post my experience as well, just like you did. I look forward to reading it. I think I've decided to stick around for a while :) . Of course I avoided the paths I didn't do because of them spoilers but I must say that I've ...

Re: A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
Wazuzu, thanks for that post. I got a little lost here and there where you slipped into what I now inwardly call "board speak", but I got the gist, and good it's good to meet a fellow-Rin-feeler, if you will. ETA: Not sure how I feel about this getting moved to the Feedback forum. It was o...

Re: A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
You're grasping at straws, methinks. Hisao would have noticed if this were true. I don't deny the possibility. That's a big reason why I want to do a replay. It makes sense, but I have to know for myself if it's the right choice of lens. Had I not lived with an alcoholic (my mother) for most of my ...

Re: A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
People like Jigoro exist. If you haven't met any yet, you're lucky, because they're usually drunk and scary. *has epiphany* Yes! I think my problem wasn't so much that he was like this, but more that there were no cues coming to me from the game that it wasn't just his normal, unaltered state. If I...

Re: A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
Markus, we cross-posted there, and even about the same thing. See above for further thoughts on Jigoro. And yes, I agree that the second half of Shizune's arc is much too linear. Great character, terribly flawed arc.

Re: A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
Thanks very much for sharing that, EyesOfLilly. I find it interesting we both started with Emi, and we both found our favorites on our second pass. I wonder how common that is. I left a fair bit out of my Rin section, too. God, how could I have left out the scene where he's peeling and feeding her t...

Re: Is KS fandom dying?
*laughs* Thanks, all, for that. Sadly, I'm going to be rewarding you all with something you've seen so often you might be jaded by it - a long breakdown of my own first experience with KS. Oddball was right: if I have something to say, I need to say it. Just let me know if there's a specific place ...

A newcomer's thoughts on Katawa Shoujo
Per Xanatos' suggestion, I am creating a new thread for this, a (somewhat) full accounting of my feelings on this game during my first playing of each character. Note: I have only played Good Endings, except where noted, and...yeah, I really don't care about 100% completion, and likely never will. S...
