Re: Iron Saki

I think one of the words that threw me off trail most was "mandibles"... On that line of thought, keeping track of the various bodily parts and invented slang, even for a short piece like this, was an interesting challenge. For the future, I think I'll keep a full table of head-to-toe fea...

Re: Iron Saki

That was brilliant! Only thing was it took me some time to decide whether they were supposed to be insectoids or robots - the descriptions in the first half leave some ambiguities as to that. Very glad and very surprised you liked it. That is a concern, that ambiguity. Added a line about Saki...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

I somewhat regret saying anything about it, but it felt a bit too convenient for sight to return just at that moment. There's been no indication that Hitomi's blindness is psychologically influenced, so it felt mildly contrived to me.

Not a big deal, just mildly bothered me.

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

I personally found the moment where Hitomi can suddenly see again somewhat maudlin.

I was in my third year of college.

If anyone needs me I'll be over in the corner crumbling into a skeleton like the dude who drank from the wrong goblet in Last Crusade.
Do you have the right time, old man?

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

I think I might genuinely hate it if the Suzu on Molly love web were actually implemented, and that's precisely what I like about it. The truly cursed idea is both implausible and possible. It haunts you at the edge of your thoughts, tickling your sense of what might be. There's nothing impossible a...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

One thing I'm surprised nobody seemed to dislike was how rapidly Hisao resolved his thoughts and feelings regarding Molly. In this single chapter, he is confronted with the realization of her interest in him, and decides just a few hours later not to pursue that. I nearly went back and altered the ...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

You should never gamble against a gambler. And by gambler, I mean someone who once got the mega jackpot in one of those ball dropping arcade games at Dave and Buster's. Honestly, probably the biggest dopamine hit I've ever experienced in my life. dang I missed the mark Can I just take a second to a...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

I have to agree with Nuke about being unsure about Hisao’s thoughts - though rather than being boring, it’s more that they are perhaps a bit static. Hisao’s moping, (especially in the line Nuke quoted), is consistent. I expect that’s why Nuke finds it uninteresting, because there doesn’t appear to ...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

My medications, as usual, line my desk each night like a row of spectators, watching the irregular clock in my chest slowly ticking down every time I sleep. Do you think Hisao regrets dreaming? On a more serious note, I'm not sure how I feel about the segments where Hisao goes off to think. They mi...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

Was looking forward to Feurox's response. I view this route of as a fairly well-engineered product, and I think of that statement as a compliment. I've already judged it, and judged it positively, as much as I really care to judge anything on a technical and analytical level. I don't think what exis...

Re: To Miss the Mark - An OC Pseudo-Route (Hitomi)

Took some notes. Notes here. On the whole, very favorable showing. Enjoyed this significantly more and rate higher on technical talent than popularly respected works such as Sisterhood or Learning To Fly . Generally good sense of pacing and characterization. Only real weakness is I felt it could hav...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20200824 Zade Wither)

Related to this discussion about giving feedback, I wrote a whole "Iron Saki" shitpost in lieu of being able to give coherent feedback about Learning To Fly. I can empathise with that, because 'After The Dream' is the shitposting that emerged after I came here, read through all the writin...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20200824 Zade Wither)

And that is a problem, because people do need feedback to improve. You can imagine me sitting there, not quite knowing how to improve on the text presented, and hesitant to say anything negative without something positive to offer. And after some time has passed, I too regretfully pass. The problem...
