Re: Notable non-KS disabled characters

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Lost most of one arm, and later lost most of his other limbs.

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Greater than the Sum)

Ok, even though it technically isn't the 2nd for another 3 hours (PDT), I'll give my $0.02. The strongest thing about >Σ is the characters. The great thing about Katsuro is his daydreams. Really brings out what he values and his personality. Katsuro is a likable guy (maybe too much so), but the supp...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Sorry to derail the discussion (I hail from a forum where that's an unfortunate commodity), but here goes: Welcome to the forums (man, I still need to get back into FTL, but I digress). Everybody has their own way of getting over their difficulties. I guess it paid off since you get out of your fun...

Re: A few short stories

It has been a while since I have heard a french song. I gave the song a listen, and the lyrics you made up work fairly well and gave me a good laugh. I am interested to see your other ideas. Bonne chance.

They already did an April Fools dub, I think that's enough. Note, spoilers.

Re: Which character did you get most attached to and why

I'll say that being bullied in the past has not made me a better person. It was simply something bad that happened in the past that damaged me. Nothing more, nothing less. On topic: I still have to say even after going through KS a year ago that Rin is still the character that I have the most empath...

Erm, dare I ask why someone (Hanako, I'm presuming) can't seem to get a word in edgewise out?
That KS/Jojo's Bizzare Adventure crossover had me in a fit hahaha.

Re: The Favor

For the story, I thought it hit the tones it needed to hit. The intro was a nice touch. Some of the dialogue did not seem to be that characteristic for Emi, but it was alright for the most part. The OC helped with the story and didn't hog the spotlight. I thought the plot as a whole wasn't all that ...

Too many puns and references lol. In any case, I've read >Σ. I'll post my thoughts on the 2nd.

Re: Fan fiction Vs Fan art

You can run GIMP on Ubuntu. Hell, I run it on Windows (though Ps is more useful). Before I go on an OS rant here's my take. Art takes some planning, don't get me wrong, but writing is almost entirely about planning. To be able to structure any form of a story one needs to have a good idea of the cha...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Closure)

On the general subject of why I think it's good, it's been touched on by several others - it's descriptive, but not too descriptive; just enough to really bring the characters to life. It sets up a complex conflict, the characters address it in a believable (i.e., consistently motivated) manner, an...

Now I'm tempted to open up Crusader Kings II and change the ruler of Scotland to Lilly (and yes, you can have them blind, among other traits). That reign would last for about all of two seconds. (give or take a few assassination attempts)

Re: So there's like, 6 main girls and maybe 3 or 4 side girl

Well, if this was the high school age "me" put into Yamaku (let's say I know Japanese), I would probably be too reserved to do much other than focus on my studies. A couple friends here or there, but not much else. Feeling of jealousy and contempt towards others. Yep, would not be a good t...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Closure)

Well, at least decently written . In an earlier edition of this book club, the Professor mentioned that this was one of the best in the category of "KS fanfics that shouldn't be KS fanfics" out there. I would definitely agree with that. I think I need to make up a more quantitative ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Closure)

Nah, I'm not necessarily even going to disagree. The problem is that they are supposed to be their KS counterparts, and even based on Act One, they do not behave in character . By that metric, this story is pretty much an abject failure. It reminds me of the stories I've read of Harlan Ellison's or...
