Re: Yamaku Book Club

I'll kick this off, I suppose. "Before we get back to what we were doing, I just want to say that I'm not that good at being you either, I guess. I don't mean to offend you, I just have a hard time understanding you sometimes, but I want to." Rin looks over at me and smiles. There's a paus...

Re: The "feels" bazaar.

Ah. Well, he was bitter and cynical to a degree. He just went the depressed route over the angry one. The entirety of Act 1, really, IMO, is about him being bitter and cynical. It's something practically every route comments on once you get further into it, and Hisao himself realizes it in mo...

Re: Hisao Nakai - Thoughts on our protagonist?

Not good for her and Hisao, yeah, but it makes sense from her position. It doesn't feel contrived, at the very least. Emotions are irrational, but that isn't holding the idiot ball. This. From TVTropes: Frequently, the person carrying the idiot ball is acting out of character, misunderstanding some...

Re: Hisao Nakai - Thoughts on our protagonist?

The girls hold the idiotball almost as much as Hisao if it advances the story. People are just less irked by it because they don't perceive the story from their point of view. I actually agree with this 100%. I'm fairly impressed with how generally little Hisao gets the idiot ball over the course o...

Hisao Nakai - Thoughts on our protagonist?

One of the things I found myself most impressed with in KS was our intrepid hero, Hisao Nakai. He had his own distinguishable personality, that even shifted and was significantly affected by each arc in different ways. The differences are some of the more fascinating parts to me about the game, and ...

Re: Least favorite girl?

Sacrilegious as it feels to say sometimes, Hanako, by a fairly large margin.

Her storyline is compelling, and one of the better done arcs, but the girl herself isn't my cup of tea.

Of course, considering Shizune is my absolute favorite, that's probably not much of a surprise.

When you can lie awake at night, trying to go to sleep, and still hear Caged Heart somewhere in the back of your mind.

Re: The "feels" bazaar.

Just booted up the game again for the first time in forever, and am going through the Prologue...and am just hit by how generally awful the start of the game is for Hisao. The girl he has feelings for confesses to him, and he can literally do nothing about it as his heart gives out on him. He spends...

Re: What scene made you "cry" the most

The last hour or so of Lilly's route was just one uncontrollable fit of sobbing and looking at the screen through blurry eyes and cracked fingers. The good or bad end? Because the good end should quell sobbing partway through when you realize you're winning. :P Good end - I had no access to spoiler...

I also remember crying during Shizune's route, but where exactly I can't remember. Ideally in replaythrough I'll find it again.

Re: The "thank you 4LS" thread.

First post. I played through Katawa Shoujo for the first time in January of 2013 in a rather frenzied burst of activity. Probably too quickly, all told, as I don't think it gave me time to truly digest everything. That's why I've signed up for the forums now, to go back into the world of KS, and rep...
