Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

I'm not even sure if it's just the parents' reactions that causes that students to either off themselves or become hikkikomoris...it's just one of the many factors. Imagine having to study 20-7 for months on end...get up, go to school, study all day, go to cram school after normal school, study some...

Re: The best written route?

Hanako, while being a SERIOUS kick to the feels, really pissed me off with the ending. She cries, breaks down, the lonely "I need a hug" girl I chased for 8 hours finally gets the BF she deserves and- game over. WELL FUCK YOU TOO! Hanako's route does end rather abruptly, but it also ends at the rig...

Re: Hanako's Story (UPDATED 18/08/2013)

No offense, but maybe Hanako's broken heart club is a better place for this discussion than Trivun's thread.

Re: If 4LS Announced DLC...

That sounds kind of bitter. Of course KS ended. Everything ends eventually. I don't think there's need to milk KS with countless sequels. Instead of being upset at 4LS for ending KS where and when they did, it's better to be thankful that they brought the project to completion and gave us these good...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

Lilly'd probably have dark hair too if KS took place in real life, but in a presentation using anime style blond hair is a much better way to emphasize her mixed blood than having to rely on the more subtle differences between pure-blood Japanese and mixed-blood Japanese. So children are magically f...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

Jigoro never brings it up, but it's what is called a "yellow flag." It isn't an outright disqualifier, but it's a warning. Or could be misinterpreted as a yellow flag. Hisao's irregular sleeping isn't his fault. The VN states outright that the medication he takes messes with his sleeping patterns. ...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

Maybe exams in japan are different then they are here. I would guess that there is still some time to talk or hold hands etc... Here is a nice page containing some information about Japanese exams. A TL;DR version might be this quote: The focus of Japanese education in the minds of many parents and...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

Point. However, his business cards say "consultant." That's also something you'd never see in traditional Asian business culture. So I'm betting he gets his money through interaction with the West. That's actually an excellent point and something I hadn't thought of earlier. It might also explain h...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)

How can he earn money? Easy - he's an Alpha. If you have talent and the right kind of assertiveness, you can be a complete asshole and be successful in spite of it. Some would even argue that you're successful because you're a complete asshole, but that's another subject entirely. Maybe in the west...

Well, I believe that moefied version of him is already naked on the Shimmie, so I'm fairly certain he's already somewhat desensitized to the idea.

Re: If 4LS Announced DLC...

But why didn't you include Rika and Saki? I think they're a much more likely option than Natsume, Akira, or Meiko. Akira and Meiko I get, since one's a working woman in her mid-twenties who's already in a committed relationship and the other one's a widow at least 20 years Hisao's senior, but what ...

Re: What if Iwanako transferred to Yamaku?

If Iwanako came over to Yamaku, it'd probably merely result in awkwardness. Most of the time when Hisao gets her letter, he doesn't really take it all that well. There's no reason to believe he'd take her physical presence any better. Not to mention she'd be awkward as well. Both Hisao and Iwanako k...

Re: Parents

It's not harsh. It's the Japanese way  I mean I've read about someone in Japan MURDERING THEIR PARENTS because he didn't get accepted into a college they wanted him to go into. The Japanese are very honor-based. Sometimes to a fault. That's probably not so much honor-based, but rather related ...

Re: Parents

I cannot say I'm an expert on Japanese culture but are kids really expected to obey their parents at all costs? That seems a bit harsh. Japan is an extremely hierarchic society where every person has (and should know) his or her place. This hierarchy basically extends everywhere and people are taug...

Re: Developments (Lilly Bad End Continuation) [Ch 5 up 8/14]

So Hanako's "improvements" in Lilly's route were mostly for show... Truth be told, that's what I've always believed too, to some degree. It makes sense to prevent her issues from hogging the spotlight since even at her best moments, Hanako's problems still overshadow Lilly's. But when you learn abo...
