Re: Are we too kind?
The use of the word "comfort" as a euphemism for sex is several generations old. Even if you're blind to the context of the situation, some knowledge of history could have clued you in on the fact that comfort has a second meaning.

Re: Are we too kind?
By not addressing the issue in the first place, or discussing his past (the letter), Hisao didn't connect or get a chance to have her understand him, and as such, he didn't connect enough to chase her. This was one of the moments where we hurt ourselves for being too nice. I always got the impressi...

Re: If you witnessed someone bullying Hanako...
Jesus christ Japan is fucked. Or at least, their school system really seems to be. Heh, blame that one on society changing slightly faster than the school officials could keep up with. There used to be no need to keep order in class because teachers were given the treatment authority figures usuall...

Re: Shizune Arc (misha, jigoro)
I think the first paragraph in Oddball's last post sparked that part. Seriously, All? Is this how you want to do things? My opinion doesn't count unless I write out a 5,000 word essay, otherwise I'm just trolling? I'm being blinded and irrational because I don't agree with you? I'm trying to paint s...

Re: Ask!
There's one other CG than the classroom one where you can find some cameos from anime, and one CG where there are a couple inside joke cameos. The festival CG featuring Shizune and Misha in a kimono had CC from Code Geass in the background. Not sure about the other characters near the middle though.

Re: If you witnessed someone bullying Hanako...
Being a wuss, a physical confrontation with the bullies would be out of the question. However, I'd have a good look at them, and notify certain teachers. Because that totally always stops bullies... :P Well, it's one of the very few things you can do that isn't illegal. In Hanako's case, the teache...

Oh, I'm sure it's a great deterrent but that doesn't make it sound any less awful. Buncha robots. They probably really would jump off a bridge if the group told them to... That's a bit extreme, but I kind of agree that Japanese hivemindedness seems both bizarre and awful to western standards. (alth...

Re: If you witnessed someone bullying Hanako...
We're probably talking about the same thing with different words, so no point in arguing semantics. And shame culture works...at times. Japan is one of the safest countries in the world and crime rate is very low. People can (and do) sleep on the sidewalk and wake up both alive and in possession of ...

Re: If you witnessed someone bullying Hanako...
Japanese are group-creatures by nature What about nature specifically in Japan causes them to be "group-creatures"? I don't mean to say that it's in their genes, but rather in their cultural upbringing. Just like Americans are individualists by nature. Except Japanese culture is probably more extre...

Re: If you witnessed someone bullying Hanako...
The question (and a lot of reactions) play on the western type of one or a few bad apples like Nelson or Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph from the Simpsons. One of the reasons Japanese-style bullying has gained such infamy is that Japanese are group-creatures by nature and bullying is often done in relative...

Re: Making a VN out of Katawa shoujo fanfics!
as in...? as in this thread. An artist took some time to create KS-style chapter screens and scene pics that were then embedded into the story. Someone could draw CG-drawings depicting the fics' most important moments. Coloring would probably be optional although it'd be important for the pictures ...

Re: Making a VN out of Katawa shoujo fanfics!
Stuff like this takes a VERY long time and is easy to underestimate. You'd need some extremely dedicated artists and scripters and even then you'd run the risk of ending up with a result that's deemed a knock-off or sub-par. If you want to bring popular fanfics to life, there are probably less ambit...

Re: Sisterhood (Hanako Epilogue) (Completed)
Hanako'd be miserable in a swimsuit, so it's unlikely she'd go traipsing around in one. She'd be uncomfortable, run an increased risk of getting a sunburn and there's plenty of other things to do there. I don't recall hearing that Lilly's parents owned a private beach in the VN...just that their hom...

Re: Akira Pseudo-Route [Updated as of 8/30]
By traditional Japanese standards, a daughter being "locked" into a management position is actually pretty gracious, seeing that lots of working Japanese women never advance past the "Office Lady" status, whose main job is to clean, copy documents, make coffee for the male collegues and look pretty ...
