I think I just brushed all that off as Misha being Misha, honestly. I didn't get the feeling that this exuberance was anything specific to Hisao at all.

Can you be more specific about what you saw as flirting?

I think it's more of a rationalized, indirect sort of motivation. If she can't have Shizune maybe she thinks being with the one Shizune loves is the next best thing? In any case I don't think she's honestly interested in Hisao as more than a friend.

The wording is only deceptive if you're not paying any attention at all. Seriously, if you thought "comfort her" wasn't going to lead to sweaty nakedness then you're either not reading or even more dense than Hisao.
