Re: Sign-Names

A better way to phrase the question might be: If you were part of a signing community, how would you expect them to refer to you, or, rather, what do you think they might end up referring to you as? Assuming they don't just finger-spell your name -which sounds like a tedious and inefficient affair....

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language

Seeing as his Avatar and signature both contain Shizune, I doubt he's trolling. You seem to jump the gun on the ignore list a bit. He is trolling. I flat out explained in my post, word for word, exactly how she deals with her handicap "apart from writing notes and using an interpreter". He asked ag...

Re: Sign-Names

The example I was given was that someone called Britney might think she's clever making herself a namesign where she taps the letter B against the side of her chin, only to discover from the first deaf person she meets that she's named herself 'Bitch'.

Re: Sign-Names

Only on the Internet do you get to pick your own nickname. Everywhere else, name signs included, you are given one. I have seen a number of threads (usually by hearing people) asking how to make one or to be given one. They are told that if they are involved in their local Deaf community long enough...

Don't make me add you to my ignore list . . .
If that is your response to a genuine question, go right ahead.

Re: What is Love?

I've only ever been truly in love with one girl who ended up hurting me severely. I promised myself that I wouldn't get close enough to someone to fall in love again. Love is non-existant to me. Man, that was blatantly clichéd. You know the drills, the Dark brooding guy, with hidden depths that was...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language

The key is each girl's handicap is how they deal with it. Emi runs with prosethics, Hanako hides with books, Lilly sees with her fingers, Rin paints with her feet. The cut scenes all allude to that. Shizune's handicap is communication, but her sigining doesn't help with that. He lack of communicati...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language

Hmmmm. I'd also refer to the food stalls and such on the school festival, for example the one where Lily works. The signs there are all written in Japanese. It'd make sense to me to let Shizune use JSL, if at all. Plus how are you gonna localize the signs when they're animated and not written? For ...

Re: We never see Shizune use sign language

all conversations are in written English... That's out of necessity for the reader being able to play the game without needing to learn Japanese first. In the fiction of the story Shizune uses JSL, but I suppose it would stand to reason that you'd need to localize her signs into whatever written la...

Yes, I think rtilrtil said they used ASL and that is the sign for father.

Good luck to you, it won't be easy to animate.

Re: Can't get Hanako out of my mind.

i was just looking at the image that interpreted the reasons as to why we are attached to different girls, ie our hang ups. Being the guy who got attached to Hanako, it mentions that I should face my fears of social rejection. But I can't help but wonder, what if I don't care about it? As in, I don...

Re: Katawa Shoujo and Alcohol

I have never understood this mentality - if I have a really awesome time (great party, wild sex, etc.), I'd ideally like to *remember* it afterwards (especially the sex). :) If your idea of fun is losing time, you can just go take a nap for the same results. :P Some people find that there's a great...

Re: Can't get Hanako out of my mind.

Actually speaking from experience, getting laid for the sake of getting laid IS overrated. Getting laid as part of a meaningful relationship is something entirely different. Going to have to agree with this guy, and pretty much most of what he said. Actually speaking from experience, getting laid f...
