Personally, I believe Rin's path is my own personal "canon" path, which is to say it's what suits me best. It was her sense of humor that really got me, it's almost just like mine IRL. It seems, this happens when you make too many bad choices leading up to this point. Hisao will ignore Lilly regardless of what you choose here if you do.

Just because something has been successfully done before doesn't mean it has to be easy or even practical. While it is possible to teach deaf people to speak, most will still be more comfortable with sign language or written notes. I don't think you should brush that of with a simple "does not want ...

Is she really mute or does she simply refuse to speak? Her father made several clues that she can speak to him, but refuses to. He even mentioned spending money on tutors to try to get her to speak. Also, the dev team does have a medical advisor, so you can expect everything that appears in KS to be fact-checked. (Allowing for artistic license like every literary work.)
