I agree, it's a nice little story, but you seem to have made a mistake with Rin's age. At eight she would be a bit young to go to High school. She should be around 15 or 16 to go to Yamaku.

I try to avoid one-in-a-million-things in my stories if they are not neccessary for the plot. They tend to destroy immersion...

Have you considered that not every part of the dorms has to have the same layout as the corridor Hisao and Kenji live in?

Since I can't see the problem, I apologize if it doesn't look fixed. Inserting one or two blanks in that line should do the trick. They're as good as married; if the law won't recognize it, that's the law's problem I think you referred to them as "the Innoues"... Not sure what this "common law" is,...

I thought it was a typo at first, but you spell him this way consistently.
Usually this name would be spelled "Tetsuo"

To be absolutely honest, this chapter feels like you simply wanted to get it done with and posted.
There are so many grammar and tense mistakes that some passages are almost unintelligible.
Please put some effort in editing or get a proofreader.

There are four classes. 3-4 is the one Emi and Rin are in.

As for Ikuno, I've never actually seen anybody use her in any fanfiction. She's a blank slate for me to work with, and she's in Hisao's class. That's a win.

So far she's protagonist in only one chapter, but she features heavily in some others as well.
