Re: Experiment: Giving characters alternative disabilities
To my mind it is not a question of how would a different disability change the person. The question I wondered about originally was that even with a different disability which parts of the personality would be basically unchanged. Sort of as a thought exercise to help expose the core of what made th...

Re: Hanako's disability is "cheap"?
Keep in mind the Devs are generally a strong minded bunch of personalities and pretty dedicated to the project to have spent as long as they have at it.Minister of Gloom wrote:Well, sure am glad that I passed that rite of passage.

Re: Hanako's disability is "cheap"?
"I know that Katawa Shoujo is a realistic game, with realistic characters." Its a dating sim with characters made for a dating sim that were made to be realistic in the context of a dating sim. They are not realistic in real life. It's the truth. The disabilities of the characters were decided by R...

Re: Rin: thalidomide *and* crazy?
I don't get all the she's not crazy she's just different talk. That is pretty much what mental problems are. In fact that is the definition - being sufficiently different that it hampers your ability to live a normal life. Cool! Now if we could only agree on a definition of a "normal life". ...

Probably sculpture instead of painting at a guess, or possibly artistry expressed through music. There are options out there.Leotrak wrote:I wonder how she'd paint the mural then, though... Re: Hanako's disability is "cheap"?
That's an AWESOME idea for some fanart/fanfiction there! Giving each character the disability of another. wonderful! Blind Rin! Arrhythmic Hanako! Legless Shizune! The possibilities are endless(well mathematically they are not, but there are still a lot of them). You have probably spawned an entire...

Re: Katawa Shoujo manga?...
Your best bet would be to wait for the next Comiket (August 13-15). If the Japanese are going to release any KS doujins, you'll see them there. With the Japanese language only going out in the A1 Ver. 3 release on May 14 I would guess that KS is still too relatively unknown to the mass of people in...

Re: Hanako's disability is "cheap"?
Hmmmm, so I mentally switched Hanako's and Shizune's disabilities and I still get Hanako being a shy wall flower trying to disappear in any situation (not running out of the room, just running into the corner of the room and trying to blend in with the paint) and I see Shizune using the technique of...

Re: Hanako's disability is "cheap"?
Now, in all seriousness, unless the Devs were trying to write a serious exploration of the girls characters as if they were whining, bemoaning-their-fate-pity-poor-me personalities, all the girls basic character and personality features have to be strong enough and well integrated enough to let them...

Re: Is katawa Shoujo the gateway drug of visual novels?
Well I'll grant the collective opinions of Aura, Delta and THM carry about 100 times the weight of experience and research than my opinions do. The one common thread of complaint I have seen from you all about VN's is that the writing of most of them sucks ass to the point of making them unplayable....

No, I have been slacking the past couple of months.
Geeez, I just realized the KS FAH Team is getting close to 1 year old and we are ranked in the top 300. Nice work everyone!

Re: Is katawa Shoujo the gateway drug of visual novels?
More of a condemnation of the commercial producers who are content to sell products that are badly made with next to no attempt to, as you and THM said, push the technology. Even worse those commercial products which don't even try to reach the level of writing an engaging and entertaining story; i...

Re: Japanese invasion
They should just ban spoken language in the media then, since tone can imply anything while using words completely unrelated. Good, then we can all learn sign language and talk to Shizune with out the annoying Wahahaha's ringing in our ears. One of my favorite saying that applies to both ...
