Katawa Shoujo Panel at the Manifest Anime Convention

Hey everyone. Crud and I are going to be attending the Manifest anime convention, and will be doing a Katawa Shoujo panel there. We'd like to thank Cemex for inviting us to do the panel. The convention will be held in Melbourne (at the Melbourne Showgrounds) on August the 20th to the 22nd, and the p...

Re: Japanese invasion

This discussion soon became not overly related to KS, and hasn't really wafted any closer to being so, so I'm going to lock this in accordance with the rules.

That said I do appreciate the fact that all the discussion here has been civil and thought-out given the topic.

Re: The future

The paths are seperate. Any scene that is in a path is path-specific. Pretty much everything is "worthy". We went on a massive "filler" diet years ago. So how many scenes are there that just had at least one of you screaming in frustration because of how many possible paths could lead to it, thus g...

Re: The future

Characters with little relation to each other (say, Lilly and Rin) will have less of each other in their respective paths and the events that happen around each will be shared less than characters who are more closely linked (such as Lilly and Hanako). Huge major events, like your example of Misha d...

Re: The future

I'd rather say "not many at all" than "some".

But it's a pretty trivial distinction.

Re: The future

Path rewrites don't necessarily mean the entire thing was a waste of time; practice makes perfect, and Act 1 is largely the way it is simply due to the fact that we've discarded a lot of past material and become a little better at writing each time. Also, each path is roughly 75,000 to 100,000 words...

Re: The future

They're basically just further revisions of the same path. K path was the final Hanako path as it exists in the game, and is what is referred to, albeit somewhat inaccurately, as her path's "second draft". The general "first draft -> second draft -> editing -> done" process as explained on the blog ...

Re: Gratz on ver. 3

Yeah, DovK is on the money here. Rest assured we've all criticised ourselves and each other much, much harder than anyone on here's done. Constructive criticism is a very good thing, and better than mindless praise (though those are important qualifiers).

Re: How well with KS stand up to the other great VN?

Yeah, now that I've seen it a couple times it does have a bit too much of an "uncanny valley" effect, and I can definitely see it distracting from the text. Still, with a bit more refinement I can see that sort of thing making animation at least a bit more feasible for VNs than it is today - but th...
