Re: Alt Dreams [One-Shots] (47—'Singlehanded') (20160318)

I can get behind that, my take has always been that she just needs some encouragement. Abandoned by her mom, coming from a poor country background, losing her hand... All major factors to her having a shitty outlook and probably feeling like she won't amount to much but with the right people around...

I like writing Miki because she's got a unique voice. I think of her as being foul-mouthed but embarrassed about it at times, and secretly wanting to be a bit more of a lady. :)

Re: Alt Dreams [One-Shots] (47—'Singlehanded') (20160318)

That was shocking. Miki's tone was perfect, and I liked the stripper choice. With very little you managed to elicit a very strong emotional reaction from me. The way Rin died, or even the Nurse and Emi. Hisao's reaction, MIki's callousness. That was great. Shit... I could easily see Rin going that ...

Alt Dreams [One-Shots] (47—'Singlehanded') (20160318)

Alternate routes are fine, but they often mean tragedy to someone else. Shizune vs Misha, Lilly vs Hanako... and there's this one. Singlehanded If there’s one thing I could always beat Ibarazaki at, it’s dealing with people. She’s all wrapped up in how shit her life is and things like that, but she...

Emi Reading List v3.1 (20160322)

Hmm, interesting comments on older material. I'm going to add one more work from 2011, the year before KS was released. Then we'll take up to a week to finish reading 'Emi's Winter Break' (anyone with comments yet?) and... the latest addition. See below. I'll add some post-release works just before ...

Happy birthday, Rin!

You aren't my favourite girl, but you've always been the most interesting to me. And, for today, you're best girl.

[Here's my Rin poem, from some time back.]

Re: Kenji's Destiny - A Short One-Shot

Two things: 1) the peculiarity of having a fireplace in a modern common room (probably against code anyway) — I've seen traditional open-hearth fire pits used for cooking and warmth, in old traditional houses/museums/eateries, but I think I've not seen any in postwar schools; 2) "turning the device ...

Re: You have been playing too much KS when...

One thing I tend to do when I go on holiday around the UK during the football season is to see if any of the local teams are playing. If I get the chance, I go to the game to support the home team, photograph the ground, enjoy the atmosphere and buy a club scarf as a memento for the holiday. Last S...

Last word on 'Developments', next word on Emi

No, it'll never be the final word on this work. But this is my last word for the session before we move on to a sequence of Emi pieces. :) 'Developments' is outstanding to me, not just for sentimental reasons, but because it traces in minute and believable detail the developments in the characters' ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Showing—Developments!)

I sent you a few suggestions, but personally I think doing a whole bunch of stories at once is quite tiresome. I'd much rather go over one story (or a few shorts) in a shorter interval than reading half a dozen and struggling to write something about every one of them. Also, you'll exhaust the libr...
