Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Closure)
I thought this piece was one of the best I read, when I decided to run through the whole backlog of fanfic here. I have that ambivalence for it that writers sometimes get when something is particularly good — you love it because it's so well-done; you feel sad because you know you can't do it so wel...

Re: First impression of the girls vs final impressions?
I'll note that Emi suffers from PTSD , and worse, is in a country that so strongly stigmatizes mental health treatment that, most likely, the only KS character actually getting treatment is Hanako. It's more accurate to say that she's the only one mentioned as getting it. After all, Nurse is actual...

Right, that's true. I know some schools give out scholarships even after admission though for different semesters, even if you have to transfer. That could be a possibility, as long as her credits moved with her. As for what she'd do in the meantime... that's the real toughie. I wonder how into mot...

Re: If you could be anyone in katawa shoujo, who would it be
Mind you, one thing that would put such a career in severe jeopardy for Emi is the Oscar Pistorius case (the one about his prosthetics, not about the one in which he's alleged to have murdered his girlfriend), which would have been going on during Emi's third year, and didn't reach a resolution unt...

And yes, I think Akira's the babe closest to my heart of all the non-route ladies. This. (I've explained why elsewhere, mind you...) And I accidentally a whole sentence in my last post - that my point was that Hanako has excellent taste in women. That's why it's a meme (see, the same medium 'ee') :...

Re: First impression of the girls vs final impressions?
Actually, I think the opposite is true. Misha's light-hearted delivery probably takes the edge off to some degree. In Shizune's route Hisao gets involved in a spat between Lilly and Shizune without Misha around and being able to see what Shizune's saying without the Misha buffer actually makes her ...

Re: First impression of the girls vs final impressions?
I don't recall Shizune starting any arguments, actually. She'll say something (via Misha), then someone else will respond in a way that creates an argument. If what she says (through Misha) is provoking enough to reasonably expect an angry reply, I'd definitely say that that's 'starting an argument...

Urgh. Wonderful as usual but… my reading fits this pattern a bit.
"If I keep doing this, maybe all this reading might lead me somewhere other than around in circles."
Probably triangles. Or rectangles...

Re: Favourite artworks - reprise.
I think one of the better ways to explain it to Anglophones is to treat the Japanese 'i' as the second 'i' in Hawaii . It's not quite 'ee' Um. What? That sounds exactly like a regular "ee" to me… Ah, there's a difference between the sound in 'Hawaii' and the sound in 'feed'. The latter is longer. O...

Re: Journey of a Non-otaku
Oh, just noticed that Emi in Wonderland. That's hilarious, SpunkySix. Yeah, I look forward to reading it after I'm done with the canon stuff, because it seems pretty funny. A little bit redundant though. I mean, Emi in Wonderland? I already thought her body is a wonderland. I'm so sorry Real questi...

Ahhh, Rin in a Bin~ It's a Rincycling Bin. ^ Rin rhymes with bin. …, many people erroneously believe. I think one of the better ways to explain it to Anglophones is to treat the Japanese 'i' as the second 'i' in Hawaii . It's not quite 'ee', but closer to the 'i' in modern Greek, or in the Chinese ...
