Re: Sakura—The Kenji Saga (Part 1-3a up 20140701)
Strangely, I did once pose the internal question of Kenji's sincerity. It all started when the seed was planted from, 'even a trope-constructed caricature couldn't turn out like this,' and grew into, 'what if this 'madness' is a facade?' (I'm too lazy to cedilla.) Admittedly, this passing fancy las...

Re: You have been playing too much KS when...
… someone gave my wife a can of 'Innisfree' cherry blossom room deodorant, and I immediately thought of Lilly Satou.
(Problem of course is that Innisfree is in Ireland, not Scotland…)

Re: Random KS Discussion
God is this annoying. I have a condition called photophobia… Sunglasses attract far too much attention (which is usually negative for me. I don't want to look like a goddamn spy or a guy from men in black). why do you care so much if people don't believe you have extreemly sensible eyes to light? ....

[quote="SpunkySix"]I don't see how limiting any person based on their naughty parts has an upside. It's different, but it's different in a way that blocks off options. If both genders had the same rights, then they could both come to an agreement and choose what roles to take on as individuals and ...

Re: Kenji
I grew up in a conservative family in which my grandfather would work all day, while grandma would go shopping and do the groceries. All his pay went to her, and she banked it or invested it as she saw fit, and then gave him an allowance from it. Actually, that's the way it's handled in many "tradi...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
I actually have some thoughts on it, but they definitely count as negative. I do suspect that the discussion isn't going to be particularly productive for the most part, though, given that everything that really needs to be said has already been said in the fic's thread. It all boils down to a) whe...

Re: Kenji
The country currently still ranks at an embarrassingly low 105th place on the gender equality scale. In other words, we'd be embarrassed if we were ranked that low, but they aren't. It's like press freedom, education quality, etc etc. The US churns out more social science research than any other re...

Re: Sakura—The Kenji Saga (Part 1-3a up 20140701)
Hmmm. Bold strategy, if I do say so myself. I like seeing a new spin on a character, especially one so canonically insane as Kenji. You add new layers to his crazy, but somehow make him a little more understandable. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone, a little bit. Anyhow, good job. This is a fun...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: A Future)
Wow, over a day and nobody's said anything? I enjoyed this story quite a bit, and am honestly surprised it hasn't gotten more attention than it has. I was a little disappointed that the later relationship with Emi got short shrift, but I also understand that it's not what the piece was about. One o...

Interlude (20140701)
I'm dozing off as Argentina tries to get the better of Switzerland and is failing to do so so far. Then I notice my Glenfiddich is gone. "Hey, man. He was like a younger brother to me, you know. I wanted to be like my big brother was, to joke with him but help him out at the same time." "Kenji? What...
