Sakura—The Kenji Saga (Book 6-4 up 20180528)

Editor's Note: This particular document is compiled from various fragments, interpolations and extrapolations of what is known. Some of the people represented here kept notes and diaries, and we have other media to support this section of the narrative. (N, Osaka.) Kenji 6: Broken Pieces of a Silen...

A Left Eye of Darkness ('Convent Girl' up 20180527)

When the dark years came, unexpected leaders arose, and were entangled with unexpected events. The Girl From The Convent (2044) I had first met Chiaki Hasegawa at the office of an old friend who was her boss. Poor Misaki , I had said to myself that day, this is the kind of person who will win every...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180514 'Scar-Crossed Lovers')

I'm ready to become depressed: who would actually prefer bad stories over good ones? Yes subjectivity, one man's trash, yadda yadda etcetera, but still. Maybe it's not so much a preference for bad stories over good, but a preference for talking about bad stories. (Some people prefer trashing bad th...

Re: Consolidated Calendar of Events

This is not an authoritative and canonical organisation of events, because such a thing is impossible. This is merely a "best attempt" to give all the events a specific day of occurrence while contradicting canon as little as possible. This is excellent, and as authoritative as it gets. Thanks very...

Re: Consolidated Calendar of Events

You put a lot of hardwork and effort into this. But you don't start with Hisao's heart attack, so I'm going to dock points. No perfect score for you. Hisao's heart attack likely happened around Sunday 25 Feb 2007. It was the coldest day in Japan that year; in fact, it was the only day in Yokohama (...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180514 'Scar-Crossed Lovers')

I'd like to get some more interaction here. Before I post the next story, what kind of story do you WANT to talk about? Short or long? OC based or main character based? A Good story or a bad one? Finished or unfinished? Standard slice or life? Romance? Humor? My preference would be for 'long enough...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Reliable Narrators)

You know, I was wondering just how much of the events was given to the authors... Did someone make a list of stuff that happens as a baseline or did someone just write the first story and the others put their twists on it? I think Oddball started the ball rolling and we just took his stuff and ran ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180507 'Reliable Narrators')

I just accepted that the character was a bit eccentric. I didn't think there was anything to "figure out" about her. Although if I had written my chapter after brythain's, I would have had Orie refer to her as "the living cliche." Just pinning down my idea of her, I guess. Her inclusion in Midori's...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180507 'Reliable Narrators')

I couldn't figure out what the deal with Rika was, is that voice like the Japanese equivalent of the faux-British accent aristocratic characters get in english-speaking media? You could cheat a bit and consider her another perspective. :P My Rika is the daughter of a Yakuza 'godfather'. She was bro...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Reliable Narrators)

It was a fun project and I am disappointed that it never saw completion. (Although to be honest, if anybody WANTS to add the last two chapters, PM me.) I'm equally surprised at how other writers took the events in their own directions and how everybody interpreted their characters. I also liked the...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (20180423 'Nomiya POV')

I think it's a well-written vignette, revolving entirely around his POV, as it says. We get to see some of his history, but I'm a little sad we don't get more Sae. The story feels as if it's about a very introverted guy who puts on an extrovert front which he knows is false, and he comes to regret i...

Re: Yet Another One-shot Repository (New Entry 4/12/18)

That's so melancholy. Once it hits the mid-point, you know what will happen but hope it won't. It's very beautiful that way, and how it takes place (in a sense) entirely within Shizune's head. I would classify it as one of those pieces that makes you wish Misha would have a happy ending for once.

Re: Within a Looking Glass – A Rika pseudo-route

Frankly, the idea of logging guest visits sounds... , to say the least. The amount of paperwork would be hellish. I think it's the norm for both Japan and Singapore. You register at the counter to visit a patient. Sometimes you are given a card or a security lanyard, sometimes you need to h...
