Re: After the Dream—Lilly's Arc (Complete; Testament3 201502
Today's been a hell of a day, dude, and this....this was nice. It didn't hit nearly as hard as I thought it would, but after learning about Monty Oum's death, not much could hit as hard as it should. I never have much to say about these things. It's usually some variation of the same thing: I like ...

... you look at the latest macaron offerings in Tokyo and idly ponder how much more beautiful they would be with the KS logo on the shells instead.

Re: After the Dream—Lilly's Arc (Complete; Testament3 201502
Your firewall leaked on that last part there, brythain. However, if Lilly was going after LOTR references, I would think that she's exhibited some rather dwarvish behavior, rather than that of the Dunedain. If I recall correctly, Tolkien noted that many dwarves lived their lives unmarried du...

Lilly: Testament3 (T +50)(up 20150202)
Being a transcription of some of the last writings of Lillian Alexandra Anderson Satou, penned in her own hand in the month of June in the Year of Our Lord 2074, and dedicated to the memory of old friends and the glory of God. The original documents may be found in the care of the archivist of the ...

Re: The problem with Shizune
I honestly think you've thought entirely too deeply about this. The devs didn't intent to simulate a perfectly realistic Japanese environment when they created Katawa Shoujo, they've said as much. Misha confessed to Shizune once, rejected, but stuck around because she still believe spending time wi...

Re: Random KS Discussion
It's cool, no worries. And, the devs also said they weren't interested in world-building, which causes huge problems when I try to world-build mentally, and run into inconsistencies... You're telling me. :) I think a few of us are having these ridiculous problems because of similar desires for cons...

Re: The problem with Shizune
Not concerned about control over the relationship, only about Shizune's emotional involvement. Even given that though, Shizune does have the vast majority of the control in their relationship, and still manages to fail to convey that she cares on anything more than a friendship-level. Wooing someon...

Re: After the Dream—Lilly's Arc (Complete; Testament2 201502
In my opinion, the problem lies in the selective editing required to emphasize "what what lost and what might have been" aspect of these stories. I could see how letting too much happiness through e.g. Hideaki and Hanako figuring out the mechanics of diapering a squirming baby... would distract the...

Re: The problem with Shizune
When what she wants and what Hisao wants contradict, Shizune seems to win and that's that. That isn't healthy. I'd agree it isn't healthy, but I think you have little evidence for that. I've just replayed Act 2. For example, in the infamous rock-paper-scissors event, Hisao does the tie breaking by ...

Re: After the Dream—Lilly's Arc (Complete; Testament2 201502
You made me cry. I was already feeling a bit sad, because of some music I'd heard on the way home from work, but..... I miss her, brythain. She was terrible and in the end truly a wretched person, but I still love her and I miss her so, so much. I wish I had read Katawa Shoujo the day it came out. ...

Re: The problem with Shizune
The slogan on Shizune's route should be "Can you be a stylish accessory?" As I pointed out earlier, the expectation in an experience of this kind is for the player/reader to be the centre of attention. That the player/reader is not, in the sense of having his agency apparently thwarted at every tur...

Re: The problem with Shizune
There isn't anything in her route that suggests (to me, at least) that she cares about Hisao in the slightest. She was intrigued by him, and she wooed him. It felt no different than any other of a thousand conquests. What do you think she could have done that would indicate that she cared about His...
