Re: Yamaku Book Club (Currently Undergoing a Sea Change)
I would have said a better parallel is the discovery of Pluto. She reacts in unexpected ways - the trick is to identify the factor(s) that cause the unexpected reactions. That's very Mutou-esque. It's similar to the very helpful advice he gives Hisao somewhere in Emi's route. I do think your Rin so...

Re: Blue Haired Girls
I really enjoyed that. I love little windows into the 'normal' life of the Yamaku population, and you do them really well.

Re: Ask!
What does these quotes mean in Rin's route? "Ysae s'ti tub, drah smees." "Ti tsujda ot evah uoy won." Rin said that these are talked backwards(according to the game), and I have no idea about how to say those, so I couldn't even try to record it and play it reversely. "Seems hard, but it's easy." "...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Currently Undergoing a Sea Change)
I am trying to develop something from Rin's POV, and it's hard going. I think I may have found an answer, but whether I can translate into a story is as yet undetermined. It would be interesting at some future time to see how you found your answer. :) [Thought Experiment] ... Don't know if that wil...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Currently Undergoing a Sea Change)
I suspect people have difficulty writing Rin because even in her own route, she's fairly enigmatic. I can imagine that it makes it hard to get inside her head effectively - it's hard to simulate a train of thought so alien to your own. Obviously it's not impossible, but it makes her challenging to ...

Straw—A Dream of Suzu (Part 3b up 20150327)
This is all that can be salvaged of the remainder of the third episode of the Suzuki files. Suzu 3b: Inactive (T -4) 2020 Sapporo is both cold and warm. It is like the lover whose hands are always chilly, but whose embrace makes your blood sing. It’s the nearest city to where I am posted, is near t...

The Katayama Mystique (upd 20150326)
Rika Katayama has always been a mysterious personality in the lore of the Yamaku alumni. This writer came face to face with her once. It was quite an experience. The Katayama Mystique (2022) It was not an easy time for the lady I was to interview, but my old friend Natsume had arranged it. So I fou...

Re: Random KS Discussion
There's a funny moment (I think of it as such) in 'After The Dream' where Hanako has been to three musicals in NYC — Les Miserables, Phantom, and Mamma Mia (the last one is Akira's choice). It's the last one that makes her cry. That's how I know Hanako is a fictional character. No human being alive...

Interlude (20150325)
"What's up, doc? You look fuckin' busy, I have ta say..." the deeply feminine voice drawls into my afternoon. "Oh. Hi, Miki." "Not pleased to see me, hmmm?" she asks, all long black hair and sultry eyes. I widen one barely caffeine-supported eye to take a better look. That's a very nice dress, sleev...

Re: A Left Eye of Darkness (upd 20150107)
Something tells me the Fragile X variant was a consequence of Uncle Sam nuking Japan back to the Edo Period. EDIT: I seem to have spoken too soon; almost 48 hours ago, Lee Kwan Yew joined the ranks of those who have passed on this year. Fragile-X variants are well documented though, I didn't make t...

Re: Random KS Discussion
So, last weekend I took my lady down to the unnecessarily busy and horrendously over-expensive lovely London to watch a musical. It's one of her favourites and one that's been growing on me a bit recently. We ate an expensive steak, got lost, bought a fuckton of M&Ms, watched a fantastic rendition ...

Meeting Thoughts, Next Reading, Next Meeting
I was left with two questions and a terribly mischievous thought at the end of the discussion of cosmicmustache's Rin piece. 1. What are the difficulties people encounter when writing Rin, specifically? They look obvious at first sight, but if they were so obvious, surely they could be circumvented....

Re: Sakura—The Kenji Saga (Part 4-2b up 20150321)
Aw, now I feel guilty that I haven't read more of After the Dream... I'll definitely read through everything at some point. I've always loved Kenji and it's great to read about his future, especially with such great writing. Keep up the amazing work! Kenji is a great character to write about. I alw...
