Well, identifying as neither male nor female also counts as genderqueer...
But, guy refers to gender, gender is decoupled from genitals and chromosomes. (Hell, genitals and chromosomes aren't even perfectly linked.)

Re: Katawa Shoujo.
That actually doesn't determine whether Shizune's a guy or not. That said, she identifies as female, so she isn't a guy, regardless of what genitals she was born with or what genitals she currently has. Also, ovaries and the adrenal glands do secrete testosterone. (Now, if we're going to discuss the...

Re: Why is your favorite girl your favorite?
I've got three favorites, really. Hanako's a misanthropic nerd with anxiety issues who ends up having a happy ending. I've got a little less misanthropy, I'm far more of a nerd, and my anxiety issues are much more... specific, whereas hers are general. Also, first girl wins. So, she gets attitudes/i...

Re: Ask!
I'll note that I wasn't interested in standing on Yamaku, for what it's worth (and if I wanted to do that, Brown University is a hell of a lot closer and cheaper to get to than Sendai Castle), but rather was interested in what I saw as a possible conflict between facts as presented in Shizune's rout...

Re: Katawa Shoujo: Going in blind. [First fic ever]
For straight ASCII text editing, I use Notepad++ on Windows, TextWrangler on OS X, and nano on most other *nix platforms. I can use vi if I have to, but usually I only do that for long enough to get pico/nano installed. (Or, on my AIX box, I just use dtpad, it needs CDE running anyway for the mainfr...

Re: The "feels" bazaar.
I'd suggest playing Hanako's route. To 100% completion, but doing it without a guide ideally.rterman wrote:"saving" Rin
It'll be... educational for you, I suspect.
Speaking of which, Hanako and Emi's routes both tore me up big time, although I've recovered.

Re: Katawa Shoujo: Going in blind. [First fic ever]
I do my composition in AppleWorks (Apple II, not Mac) and Google Drive, typically. The Apple II is when I'm doing things during downtime at work, Google Drive at home (because I can send a link to a Google Drive document to someone who's collaborating with me, and they can easily comment on it). I a...

Don't use line breaks unless you're starting a new paragraph.

Re: Katawa Shoujo: Going in blind. [First fic ever]
You've got tons of unnecessary line breaks in there, and a lot more space between paragraphs than is necessary.
Delete the line breaks within paragraphs, then it'll work at a normal font size.

Re: Ask!
So, a fair amount of stuff has put Yamaku in/near Sendai, including some timeline-related deduction, and some word of author (I know that's not canon, but then that's what we get in this thread). Shizune's route, in Force Feedback, says that the Hakamichi residence is in Saitama, roughly 2 hours by ...

Re: All I Have
I'm gonna bump this old story back to the top. The funny thing is that this relationship is actually healthier than Hisao's relationship with Shizune, even with it being built on such a shaky premise (essentially Comfort Hisao). And Hisao is probably mistaken about who his girlfriend actually is (ye...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Bad End) [Ch 30 up 12/31]
And there's other possibilities for a running partner anyway, Miki for instance. Or even Hanako. (Longer runs would be one of the few instances where her scars could be an actual disability, due to reduced sweating.) With Emi, Hanako and Hisao would grow apart for a while, until Hanako got over it, ...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Bad End) [Ch 30 up 12/31]
One problem that I could see for Hisao... choosing not to date Emi would probably lose him his running partner.
