Re: Pairing the Spares?
There is one piece of art that IIRC Mike Inel did, that depicts Yuuko and Nurse being close, for what it's worth. Why Nurse would give up Meiko for Yuuko, I have no idea. How about Mutou x Miyagi (3-2's homeroom teacher, and the English teacher for the third years)? Although, what little characteriz...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 41 up 5/
For what it's worth, a rough timeline based on ProfAllister's, albeit with some discontinuity with reality (re: the end of classes - if I ever write anything in this timeline that actually needs the timeline to work, I'll probably discard canon that doesn't fit reality, and then the relationship wou...

And I'm not defending it, either, for what it's worth.

Re: Adaptive technology
Those implants are typically for people who experienced some form of injury that caused blindness during adulthood. As Lilly has never been able to see, there's no functioning visual cortex for those chips to interface to, and attempts to implant such chips in patients like that have caused severe s...

Re: Pairing the Spares?
There's also the matter that I don't actually think Lilly's into women, and that I think Akira is... And, I didn't say there weren't issues, but Lilly basically treats Hanako like a daughter, which has just as toxic of a power dynamic as Akira and Hideaki having a romantic relationship. Also, part o...

Re: Pairing the Spares?
I'm actually surprised that something (that wasn't a spare pairing ship) became part of my headcanon as a result of this thread, really.
(Specifically, that Rika's parents are first cousins.)

Re: Adaptive technology
Considering that this is a societal -level issue, though, Hisao might not push too hard. (My understanding is that one is supposed to rely on their family in cases like that... and there'd be a lot of societal backlash against Hisao for "not properly taking care of his wife" or something like that. ...

Re: Adaptive technology
Especially considering that we're talking about Japan, there's also strong societal pressure to not pursue mental health treatment, as I understand.

Re: Pairing the Spares?
There's also the power dynamics of their relationship, which I can only see as incredibly unhealthy in both directions for it to become a romantic or sexual relationship. Some of that is due to the age gap, but some of it is due to how they're related and interact with one another. That's actually w...

Re: Adaptive technology
Yeah, it's something that needs to be administered in a controlled environment to work. It's a tool to allow the brain to be receptive to therapy, not a "take this and your problems go away" pill.

Potato, show me where on the doll linkoid touched you, when he used you to take a picture. Because that was taken on a potato. On topic, If I really went to high school at Yamaku, I might have fallen for Hanako (and then nothing would have happened between us, other than her being potentially creepe...

Re: Adaptive technology
Well, the MDMA and LSD therapies are essentially, as I understand, putting the brain into a state where it doesn't fall back on existing pathways to evaluate traumatic memories, and then intentionally triggering the memories, while allowing the brain to create new connections regarding those memorie...

Re: Adaptive technology
Mind you, that article does mention some drug therapies (that is, involving a controlled administration of the drug as part of a therapy session) that could be permanent for PTSD, too, without surgical implants. (I suspect that's the more promising approach, if we can get past some puritan attitudes...
