Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 44 up 6/
As always, thanks to all for the kind (and less so) words, and even moreso the interesting discussion so far! Oh, and Hanako is now best bro. (Then again, given that it's this continuity, it wasn't hard to beat Akira, who's managed to accidentally push Hisao into letting Lilly leave, and then pushed...

Developments, Chapter 44
Saturday night. Other people, like the rest of the track team, wait all week for it, but to me it's just another night to go to bed early. Lately I don't know why I bother, since I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in who knows how long, but I need to try. I'm going to need as much energy as I can...

Re: Recommend a VN
Heh, I actually played the Starswirl Academy demo before I knew it was connected to MLP. I caught on fairly quickly, though. It wasn't truly horrible, but I thought it was way too heavy on the exposition, and the characters were either bland or annoying. Of course, I'm not the target audience, as I...

Re: Recommend a VN
of ponis Clop. Also, while I doubt the linked image will be representative of the overall quality of the finished product, the very idea that someone with that degree of skill decided to apply it to derivative works sets my teeth on edge. You're good, create something original , for chrissak...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?
Frankly, I find Hisao in the bad ending (and Cut Petals, honestly) to be utterly disgusting, and wholly undeserving of a second chance, or even of Hanako's love at all. Absolutely true, and the more I think about it, it bothers me. I know in a VN, you're generally given all-or-nothing choices, but ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: The most suprising thing)
Arguably speaking, from a canonical perspective, none of the girls are definitively heterosexual, though I suppose that is almost always the presumed default. Even in Shizune's case, it could have simply been a situation in which she just didn't have those kinds of feelings for Misha. We don't real...

Re: Limits of Fanfiction - What is appropriate?
I don't see the attraction in them, short of a player getting a bad ending on their first playthrough of the visual novel and panicking that now that's the "real" ending for the player. I agree mostly, and I think most BEFFs are so bad, because this is the reason why most of them are written. If so...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: The most suprising thing)
Coinflip sexual orientation? I think I know where you're going with that, but can you expand, please? It means that there's no real hint in the story that either of them is anything other than heterosexual until they confess to each other. For me, it feels like "I flipped a coin, and today I am bis...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: The most suprising thing)
Not a bad little story. I wish it contained fewer of the things that I hate about bad fanfics (coinflip sexual orientation, unnecessary H-scene, hurt-comfort relationship building), but I think it was generally good enough to overcome that and allow me to enjoy it. Hisao has a heart attack that was ...

Re: AtD—Natsume's Arc (Part 5b up 20140622)
I don't see that the lack of choices in and of itself requires much suspension at all, and less than certain other things in the VN. It requires much less than thinking that the lives of this particular handful of people would continue to revolve around each other for the rest of their natural live...

Re: AtD—Natsume's Arc (Part 5b up 20140622)
Yeah. Um. So. It's probably a good thing I didn't know that at the time, or I might have actually stopped reading. I can still appreciate the excellent writing quality of this whole mosaic, and the care that was taken in its crafting...but this bit took what was left of my suspension of disbelief, ...

Re: AtD—Natsume's Arc (Part 5b up 20140622)
dewelar's comment from your Mutou arc comes to mind: Heh...good writing excuses a lot, but the...incestuousness of all this is starting to get a bit ridiculous :) . Next installment: Sae turns out to be Hanako's aunt who had been staying with her family, and when the fire happened she was away to a...

Re: This game is great!
I'd say go with Rin if you like roller coasters. Shizune if you have a mind for ambiguity and frustration. Lilly's if you like blondes, I guess. That's interesting — I would have said Lilly for roller coasters, Rin for ambiguity and frustration , and Shizune for repeat-read richness. So many people...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Some old shit)
"Hrm. Yeah. KS had the potential to be one big black hole of suck, didn't it?" Eh, so do all works in life. This is just the kind of stuff that gets thrown into the crucible. True enough. I'm sure if anyone saw the early versions of Developments chapters before they went through rewriting and editi...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Some old shit)
If I'd thought about it, I probably would have also posted the ending where Hanako goes full on crackling supervillain and kills everyone to go along with these two. If you'd like to, we can just keep on with this discussion, because the yandere Hanako totally hasn't been played out enough. If you ...
