Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
I'd been avoiding reading this due to my own fears of where it might go, but obviously those were misplaced. The fact that there are currently a thousand thoughts spinning in my head about the implications of almost every part of the story...I don't think any other KS story I've read has had me thin...

Re: A New Crossover-Divergence-Mosaic Fanfic
So this takes place after Chinami's ending in HoshiMemo? That sound you heard was my interest level plunging through the floor. The only thing I enjoyed about her route was the side characters and back story -- which is funny, because unlike a lot of folks, I actually enjoyed her character and the h...

Re: A New Crossover-Divergence-Mosaic Fanfic
Being a big fan of HoshiMemo, I'm looking forward to reading this...but only if it's not in script format. Bleah.

Re: Developments, Chapter 23
In Chapter 23: (verb issues) Fixed, thanks! Hey, I'm catching up in my re-read; just starting Chapter 26. Well, you should definitely be finished by the time the next chapter comes out. Not sure if what I'm planning with it is working out, but the wrangling is ongoing... I really like this. Thanks,...

Re: A Birthday Wish (Saki/Rika) [Complete]
Don't know why different rules should apply to works of fiction. For me, it's a question of voice. Works of non-fiction are always intended to be in the voice of the author (biographies can straddle this line), where works of fiction are in the voice of the narrator . In the case of (mostly) every ...

Re: A Birthday Wish (Saki/Rika) [Complete]
While I concur that care should be taken when using different languages in a piece of writing, I thoroughly disagree about not highlighting foreign words when inserting them. The context of the speaker or the setting is not significant, only the main language of the writing matters. Foreign words s...

Re: A Birthday Wish (Saki/Rika) [Complete]
I enjoyed this quite a bit as well. This is a good example, for me, of how something I normally wouldn't enjoy reading can be made enjoyable by a good writer. The hikikomori thing too, it just seems a little bit out of place, and looks like it's just a sudden reminder that "Hey, this is in Japan", b...

Re: Katawa Seiyu
I mean no offense to anyone that's put in hard work here, but none of the voice really click for me as what the character sounds like in my head. Pretty much this. KS was the first VN I ever read, and ever since I've discovered that no matter what VN I'm reading, I eventually end up turning off voi...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 46 up 7/
Really, truly loving Noriko and Yoshi in this chapter. Seaweed Girl in particular is utterly fantastic. Every time she shows up it just makes my day. I can't wait to see how the Corrupted Manly Picnic plays out. (Yoshi's anecdote about Kenji was a joy to read, too.) Thanks. If I were writing a diff...

Re: Have you dated someone like any KS character?
Huh...did not know this thread existed. I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I dated a girl who was quite a bit like Lilly for about a year when I was in college. Like Lilly, she was tall, blonde(ish), blind (of course), and came from a very well-to-do family. She also was a fan of jazz (she played in h...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
Unfortunately, beyond the entry-level nature of the writing, the premise that Miki so easily agreed to run with Emi despite the fact that in the VN itself Emi was upset that nobody on the track team was willing to run with her in the mornings kind of bugged me. When you have to contradict canon jus...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
As for the canon-breaking argument.....yeah, I have no counter-argument. Some things I'm willing to overlook, but that's a personal thing. I, for one, CANNOT STAND IT when people make Shizune's mother related to Lilly's father. It's said, in the VN, that their fathers are brothers. But that's just ...

Re: Developments (Post-Lilly Neutral End) - Chapter 46 up 7/
As always, thanks to all for the kind words! Hisao, you fucking dumbass. Just because you had a fight with Hanako doesn't mean that everything's over with her. Well, remember that his experience with this sort of situation is very limited. Lilly is very conflict-averse, and the two of them never had...

Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Mendācium)
That was.....nice. Yes. Let's go with nice. I agree with the critique of scene one though. Third-person omniscient doesn't work with present tense. Glad that was changed by scene two. So...it got better after scene one? Maybe I should go back and try again, because I couldn't even get through that ...

Developments, Chapter 46
"Since this is your room," Rin says authoritatively, "that means I probably should be the one to leave." I laugh, mostly at the incongruity of her statement, but also at the irony of the timing of this whole episode. "Probably. Thanks for coming by, Rin. I think it helped." She nods, and I open the ...
