Re: Yamaku Book Club (Now Reading: Shades of Distinction)
Hello there, I went a way for a while. If anybody want to take the reins, i'm afraid I have lost the spark. PM me if you would like to make your case for taking the book club over. That leaves me feeling a little sad. It was one of the first things I encountered when I first came here. :( Hmmmmmm, ...

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 2014-9-5}
I'm like six thousand words into a thing. Unfortunately, crippling depression, untreated ADHD, etc etc. Thanks for the love! These things happen. If that thing is the thing that I think it is, and that thing is in any way a thing that is not the right thing, then have you considered putting the thi...

Re: Random KS Discussion
It's cool, no worries. And, the devs also said they weren't interested in world-building, which causes huge problems when I try to world-build mentally, and run into inconsistencies... You're telling me. :) I think a few of us are having these ridiculous problems because of similar desires for cons...

Re: Random KS Discussion
So, the only thing that's in dispute is whether katawa-shoujo.com's character profiles are canon. If canon is defined as "only what's in the game" (which AFAIK is the position of the devs), then they are not. If it's not defined as that, then it's not defined at all , which means that there's basic...

Re: Random KS Discussion
I believe it was mentioned in the VN that Emi had to skip a year, and so actually is a year older than her classmates. She's 19 when the VN happens. Or, more precisely (per the Japanese educational system), her 19th birthday would fall during the 2007-08 academic year, yes. And yeah, Steinherz, I w...

Re: Random KS Discussion
I had thought Hisao gets his heart attack near the end of his second year, and starts at Yamaku at the start of his third year. In Iwanako's letter she talks about being in a third-year class, which supports this timeline (assuming he's in the same cohort as her). Well, then the Japanese school yea...

Re: The problem with Shizune
Yes and no. Sometimes providing support and/or working from behind the scenes to ensure one's partner achieves their goal (which I thought you might have been implying) is the right kind of complement for a particular person. I just don't think it's the right kind of complement for Shizune . I thin...

Re: Random KS Discussion
It's a pet theory of his that requires you to accept that, despite neither being mentioned in the game, Emi's listed birth date from the game's promotional material is correct, but that her birth year is not.BMFJack wrote:Are you trying to say that Lilly is older than Emi?bhtooefr wrote:Actually, Lilly is older

Re: The problem with Shizune
When Hisao learns that he doesn't have to chase after her success, but that (in a very ironically atypical way to a Japanese) he's the one who will get her to be her best, they'll do well. :) It's a bit of both, really. While I agree that being complementary is the ideal, for these two it should be...

Re: The problem with Shizune
This is something like what I was thinking. Shizune will always be the leader and Hisao chasing after, which means Hisao will never really be her equal. As Socrates said, true love can only happen between equals. I don't think that's the case. The route shows that Shizune only discovers her deficie...

Re: The problem with Shizune
I find Hisao's statement that he will continue to chase Shizune incredibly poignant. Always chasing implies never catching up to. If the context when he said the statement is before he and Shizune became a couple, then yes, that may be true. But thing is, with the ending we have both of them gradua...

Re: The problem with Shizune
Oh how I wish i could write like some of these fan-fic writers. Heh...that's exactly how I thought when I first came to the boards here. My first effort fell pretty flat, but people kinda like my second one. You never know what you can or can't do until you try. Anyway, back on topic: Her route is ...

Re: The problem with Shizune
I've gone back and forth on my opinion of Shizune's route several times, and I have decided that it's impossible to tell whether A22 did some of the things he did with the route intentionally or because he was too lazy to finish some stuff and just did a good job of convincing people that it was art...
