Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 2/23/2014}

I for one support judicious thought and editing over an author trying to see if Rapid Fire Typing works for stories.

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 2/23/2014}

For what it's worth, I don't mind waiting. I'd rather have it done well than rushed out. Besides, as the MTTB increases, so does the reliability. :D

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 2/23/2014}

I didn't find Hanako's behavior off at all. I didn't even think to comment on it.

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 2/23/2014}

A new chapter! Wonderful! Lilly bringing an entire array of tea apparati is rather awesomely crazy yet believable. My, what happy thoughts Iwanako is having. "“Um,” Hanako suddenly chimes in, “I d-didn’t like it either…”" Stoneflower seems to be on track, though… "They probably won’t ...

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 11/20/2013}

I figure it has something to do with the fact that Hisao, being a guy who she may or may not like at that point, would make her more nervous than a girl who might be shorter than her and is about as un-intimidating as possible. Might nothing. Iwanako is only two centimeters taller than Emi and bord...

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 11/20/2013}

I want to point out here that even if Hisao had tried this in that scenario, he would not have been received nearly as successfully. Oh, really? Interesting. Why? I figure it has something to do with the fact that Hisao, being a guy who she may or may not like at that point, would make her more ner...

I want to point out here that even if Hisao had tried this in that scenario, he would not have been received nearly as successfully. Oh, really? Interesting. Why? Mean Time to Failure is probably the more widespread term. I don't actually have any engineering background. A quick Googling turned up ...

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 11/20/2013}

And, I usually hear it as MTBF, or Mean Time Between Failures, although the context I hear it in is hard drives. (And in that context, the thesaurus shows "lies" as the synonym.) They're more or less the same thing, but MTBF implies repairability (the first failure has to be fixed in orde...

Surely you mean Stoneflower? ;)
...Oops! Memory glitch there; you are correct. Yes, Stoneflower.

edit:
By the way, Leaty, what field is the term MTTB from? My Systems course introduced it as Mean Time To Failure.

Re: Iwanako: Mean Time to Breakdown {updated 11/20/2013}

Ah, the Emi introduction! "The would-be Destroyer of my World." Well, the second Emi introduction. Yeah, not a very good first impression there… "nacreous" Yay, it's back! And the probability of an Emi route just jumped off a cliff, not that that was too terribly unexpected. &quo...

Re: Mean Time to Breakdown — (Iwanako, Divergence){u 10/20/2

It's not dead? It's not dead! Hooray! Well, I'm afraid that I don't have any detailed commentary (and, um, ought to be working on homework at the moment instead of reading fanfiction), but I'm still quite interested to see what happens next. There are a lot of different potential plots branching out...

Re: Mean Time to Breakdown — (Iwanako, Divergence) {u 7/19/2

So, my question is: how important is the shock of the first chapter to a reader's enjoyment of the fic? As the writer, I don't personally know this. When I wrote it a year ago, it was just a proof-of-concept, so the stinger was fairly important, but now this is becoming a full-fledged fic, and I'm ...
