Re: Sisterhood (Hanako Epilogue) (Completed)

Oh Cthulhu, that topic. Hehe.

I've firmly resolved to never mention the hair color of anime characters in my fanfics unless it's black or blonde. I just don't want to have to deal with this.

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

... which is a pretty big point. Even her own sister had to end up going to Hisao behind her back, bless her. Xanatos: More honest in the sense that, between Lilly's deception and Hisao's idiocy, the "good end" didn't really feel earned to me. I figured if Hisao needed to have a heart attack/scare t...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

There's just a difference between keeping distance or not being forthcoming on the one hand, and misleading/deception on the other. Hanako is in a shell, and everybody knows it. Emi, as a default with people who aren't too close to her (=everybody), pretends her problems away, in the "I'm fine" sort...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

Yes, I agree with all of that. These things I said are in response to the idea that deceiving Hisao was somehow the best option, which I disagree with.

That's also what I thought. What did you have in mind specifically, Oddball?

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

Yeah, Lilly "deceived" him but that was the better of her options under the circumstances. This is what I have trouble swallowing, and why a number of posts on this thread lately have been baffling me, people trying to justify it. Because to me, deceiving someone - either by directly lying, or know...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

I didn't miss it. But the deception thing was salient, important to DalekKahn's point that you supposedly fixed, which makes your substitution not work. You sacrificed making your point well for the sake of being what passes on the Internet as witty.

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

I find Lilly Hisao's tenancies towards emotional distance, and refusal to confront others about issues, make the relationship incomplete at best, and at worse flat out deception. Fixed. That's a bit of an obnoxious thing to do, especially when you're wrong. What Hisao does in Lilly's route hardly c...

Re: The meaning of Katawa Shoujo.

Have you heard him out as to what he meant by it, when he said they were different? That can mean a lot of things. Unless you know specifically where he was coming from, it's impossible to say whether he's just "looking at the surface" or has an actual point.

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

Good post, Guest Poster. Though my words that you quoted were mostly a clarification of what I meant by "wanting to hear bad news", in response to Oddball being oddly literal about it. It's kinda like asking for directions. If it's one person (and especially if he's younger than you), he might admit...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

BTW, is it actually true that Japanese don't like hearing bad news? Can you name a person anywhere that likes hearing bad news? Uh, if the bad news is already /there/ - if there is a problem - then I generally prefer being openly confronted about it rather than to find out later that I've been dece...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

BTW, is it actually true that Japanese don't like hearing bad news? I know they don't like giving it, and they justify it by not wanting to hurt the other person, but do the recipients of this treatment (and I don't mean bewildered westerners) really prefer it that way? I'm trying to figure out if t...

Re: Oh Lilly... what's wrong with me?

Guest Poster: lots of good points there. And what you said is pretty much what I thought about the intention with Lilly, but the question stands: were we supposed to accept this package deal? Although I suppose since the Good End was intended as a, well, good end, that kinda answers it. And for thos...
