In that case, something is being lost along the way. We know Lily and Hanako aren't friends for very long, but I would have expect Hanako to pick up the fact that Lily appreciates honesty, and tell her own side of the story. If you are truly okay about being alone, why not lay the cards on the table...

One big problem for survivors is the destruction of structures found underneath the skin, e.g. sweat glands, nerve endings, hair follicles. As far as I know, there is currently no way to replicate these structures.
As for Hanako, maybe the fire just happened to miss that part of her head.

Assuming that all forms of deafness can be reversed in the future (and that has some way to go), deaf culture is very likely to go the way of endangered languages (e.g. Manchu). It will be a challenge to preserve it.
