I'm thinking with her voracious reading habit, and her interest in the school paper in Lilly's arc, she'd get into Journalism or Literature; possibly in an internet publishing field of some kind where she could stay at home and send in her work online.

By the end of the story I think Hanako was well on her way to recovery. Even if she weren't, I'd be surprised if the doctor just cuts students off once they graduate. Owning a Gameboy in the early 2000's doesn't sound so bad. Hell my friend gave me her old one around then. Its still perfectly fine for stuff like Yoshi's Cookies, Tetris, etc.
