Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Wow RealChestnut, Hanako's story must have cut very close to the bone for you. Hanako's story also resonated for me when I first read it, because I saw parallels with the early stages of my relationship. I ended up being more forthright in telling her my feelings (not because I was wise or courageou...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Thank you Hacksorus, that was very kind to say. It's really heartening to have an old KS hand like you pulling for me. I'm trying the best I can to do this well; some moments I'm resilient and behaving as I hope to, and some moments (hopefully fewer) I catch myself being small and resentful and scar...

Re: A pseudo-pseudo Suzu route (completed)

I can't remember whether I actually posted my thoughts back when I first read, but this was a terrific story. Thank you very much for writing it. Your love of the setting and your characters shines through. Since it's been a few years, I'm going to read it again!

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Marantana, thank you so much for your kind wishes. You seem very knowledgeable about cancer. I'm new to this whole thing. I have one of the nastier variants of CLL, which is very unusual at my age. Apparently the chemotherapy for it has gotten better in the past decade, and there is some gene editin...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Hi there. It's been a very long time, particularly in internet terms. I posted fairly regularly on this thread in 2012 and 2013 (roughly pages 25 to 200). Some events in the past few months have put me back in mind of Katawa Shoujo and the good people I talked with on these forums. Borean, Gandara, ...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Yesterday I returned to the track for my first run in nearly a month since getting sick. I completed a 5km run, but I felt fat and slow and short of breath. The only good thing was that my persistent shin problems seem to have healed very well. I'm running again tonight, and I'm hoping I can regain ...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

Wanderinheartache, that's an awful situation you describe. I had that sort of thing happen a few times when I was younger, where a poisonous and charismatic person turned friends against each other for fun. The important thing to remember is that the situation isn't your fault. You can't control wha...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

How did that race go? Very well, thank you for asking. I ran the race last Sunday, but got horribly sick that afternoon and haven't been able to run since. :( I was quite nervous at the start of the race; it was weird being bunched in the cold weather up with hundreds of other people waiting to run...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Started this today and hoping I will finish it. Welcome, and good for you! Make her proud. How did your second day go? 17:40!!! I finished in 9th out of over 400 (although to be fair it was a charity fun run). It wasn't exactly fun but it feels so damn good now. Also, free haircut. I'll now be taki...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Hello everyone, hope you have all been swell. Been a long time since I have been here, got a bit of catching up to do, but it does inspire me to see that people are still running here. Unfortunately I must apologize, I was a regular here quite a few months back and stuck with this for a good while....

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

That is seriously impressive. How do you get started motivating yourself for this? I used to be in great shape, but I really let myself go and taking lithium made it a lot worse. What did it take? Thanks muliebrity! That's a nice thing to say. I got started about a year ago when I played Emi's path...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

Hi all, small update on my stuff: I ran another half marathon this evening. This was not my plan, it just sort of happened. :) It was my initial goal to run 10 km if my leg injuries didn't act up. My running progress has been held back recently due to various shin problems, and that's been all kinds...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

An even more important factor is water balance, people's weight can fluctuate by around 10 pounds everyday due to water loss/gain alone. More if you have an especially salty meal. Definitely agree that body fat is the way to go. In my case I just look in the mirror :). You and Harvey are doubtlessl...

Re: Emi inspired running/workout

SemisoftCheese, that's good advice regarding the shin splints. They've cramped my style since I began running. I started doing stretch you described - tried it before my most recent run. I had a bit of trouble picturing it, but eventually figured it out. Much better than against the wall. I've been ...

Re: Hanako's Broken Heart Club

The real question I had was, and please disregard sappiness and think about this deeply; does love as pure and deep as what Hisao and Emi had exist on this Earth? I was reading the forums and people were saying the love they shared was very rare in the real world. This is when I realized, what is t...
