Re: What would you have done if you made the game?

I would have coded the thing, and hoped that someone who can write worth a damn was helping me, because I certainly can't.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

4GB RAM with 1.5GHz Intel Ivy Bridge Processor. That would explain it. I've got the Intel Core i5-4670K overclocked to 4.2 GHz. I've got quite a bit more power to put towards it. Okay, so I'm part of the team now. It says I'm "paused on battery" though, which sounds suspiciously like some...

Re: You have been playing too much KS when...

A somewhat prominent YouTuber I watch played through KS 100% about a year ago. Dude's name is Millbee. He's a member of the Minecraft Mindcrack server, probably the most prestigious survival server in the game. I was rather surprised when I saw him play the game, and even more so when he stated anot...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

I finish one about every four hours. Either I'm getting smaller assignments to complete, or my computer's handling these exceptionally well.

What specs does your computer have?

Oh, that's fine. I'm not exceptional at it either, just good enough at it to translate it into a computer program or library and forget about it.

Yep. Was totally my fault after I broke out the Greek symbols and scientific notation.

Re: April Fools...?

I think I missed the joke... Yeah, I totally did. Whoops.

The math was my fault, I think, after explaining that a brute force approach to cracking the password was near impossible.

Re: April Fools...?

Wow, a really cool math lesson AND a Hunger Games reference... nice. I try my best. As someone who has 5/8ths of a computer science degree, and is working on the last parts of it, it's something that interests me. A large part of it is the design and analysis of computer algorithms. Gaylord... I'm ...

Re: April Fools...?

Hey, who knows? He could've stayed up all night and gotten lucky. Those kinds of algorithms are usually O(∑^n), where ∑ is the set of potential characters valid in the password, and n is the length of the password. Even for just lower case letters, that ends up being 26^14 = 6.45e+19. All alphanume...

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Max power doesn't phase my computer at all. F@H's thread priority is pretty low by default (I think), meaning it will prefer giving other processes CPU time over F@H when it has to choose. If you have it set to use the GPU, it can make some programs' GUIs or videos lag a bit. Though given the specs ...

Aw shit, I spent a whole day of my life trying to BF 14-symbol password.
You actually thought you'd get anywhere with that? Brute force is no small feat.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

I figured that I'd put all those unused CPU cycles to good use, seeing as I put together this pretty powerful desktop computer, but use it to browse the Internet most of the day. I can't send money, but I can provide some processing power to a good cause.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Folding@Home Team

Hi,

I just built a desktop computer a few months ago, and I remembered about Folding@Home. I'm not very active on the forums here; I lurk most of the time. However, I figured extra members of the team would be appreciated, so I joined, if that's alright with you.

Re: Katawa Shoujo 1.1 beta

At first glance, the beta seems to work okay. I'll do some more extensive testing over the weekend when I have time for it, measuring both memory and CPU usage, looking for glitches, etc.

I like that I can play fullscreen now; it wasn't available with the earlier release.
