Re: Christmas Present: Katawa Shoujo Artbook PDFs

I'm rather amused at the sight of Misha in the tanuki suit. A popular character who now has access to magical shapeshifting testicles will spawn a great many fanfics and fanart.

It was also interesting to see how Lilly's surname is spelled. It's a small detail, but a fascinating one.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Will be Released on January 4th, 2012

Wow. I know I got into the fandom later than many, but still, I've waited so long that it's hard to believe that a date has been set and everything.

Now to send all the developers a bottle of champagne...

Re: Getting People into Katawa Shoujo

I've described VNs as like a choose-your-own adventure, but with pictures and music. For KS specifically, I describe the circumstances around Hisao's entry to the school, why he needs to have a date before the end of the week, and Rin's first scene. I've also mentioned the game's 4chan connection, a...

Re: Is there a middle ground?

A middle ground between cripple girls and linguistics? Dislexia? Alexia* would be a closer approximation I think, as would Dyspraxia.** I'm not sure if Prosopoagnosia*** would be related, as it's all visual rather than linguistic, but I imagine that it makes communication that much more tricky, esp...

Re: Manga About the Disabled

In terms of disabled manga, I cannot recommend "With the Light" highly enough. The co-protagonists are mother and son, and starts on the day of his birth. Unfortunately, the son is not like other babies, and he is diagnosed with autism. Though Mom is in denial at first, she comes to terms ...

There were so many things running through my head I could not put a full thought together. However, now I can confidently say that she has one nicely shaped leg. She gets her exercise in.

Re: "Sharing" Hisao

My doubts on the Lilly+ Hanako are because, as was noted in the game, they are almost like mother and daughter, and I doubt they'd want to do something quasi-incestuous. Rin and Emi however, might involve something amusing, such as Rin saying "I feel bad for Hisao. My fellatio is not very good,...

Re: Big in Japan, part 3

>If you are around in August. One thing I learned about Japan. If you're American don't visit in August. Not trying to sound crude, but I'm curious enough of a person that this has me wondering if there is a sharp drop in numbers of Japanese tourists to the States in December. You do not go to Japa...

To clarify, the two arguments presented were brought up by some very vocal commentators. Point number one in fact was reiterated quite a bit.

Knowing and Passing

An LJ community I go to has a rather volatile thread at the moment.* The OP is hoping to do a panel at a con about adapting costumes for the disabled, and her inquiries for advice, suggestions and volunteers at the panel has NOT been well received. The naysaying falls largely under two categories: *...
