Yes, but flat panel monitors look horrible at anything other than native resolution due to poor scaling. Indeed they do. That is why you can turn off scaling in the drivers with Nvidia and ATI. Why does skip mode have to work by flashing through text really quickly? Can it not just be a direct scene skip? That would save some time.
