Re: Secret Santa 2018 - Story collection

I loved Akira's Surprise, having read Home on AO3 it was more of a "how" rather than "what" sort of a story, but that didn't affect my enjoyment one bit. To me, her real surprise was that Hanako was the driving force! Mission Log: Discovery of the Snow Butterfly made me laugh, and made me wonder wha...

Re: Hanako Fancopter One-Shots/Misc. Stuff

Glorious!

I've got a story outline in my queue that also characterises Lilly as cynical and manipulative, but I don't need to write it now :D

Your English is many times better than my French and I never struggled to understand what you were saying (writing?).

But playing thrash metal on a Jaguar? Really??

Re: Yet another one-shot thread

Thank-you both for the kind words! The other story I'm working on atm has Lilly back in Japan so I wanted to write something to see if I could make sense of her return - if I couldn't then I'd have to rethink. Seems like it isn't too far fetched or out of character, which is a relief!

Home

She sits on her bed with tears running down her face, finally expressing the feelings that have been threatening to overwhelm her for what seems like an age. Despite being alone in the house she does not abandon herself to her emotions: there are tears but nothing more. Even so the friends she left ...

Re: Fallen Leaves & Broken Clocks

I feel you've captured a feeling of mono no aware very well, and they both exhibit impressive amounts of gaman. I had a strong emotional response to this, going to take me a while to pin down why though.

Thank-you!

The hairnet

The hairnet sits on the dressing table where she left it on Friday evening. It is just an ordinary hairnet, a brown elastic mesh that food hygiene regulations require her to wear. She sits in front of the mirror putting her long hair up in a bun. Since it is a style she has not tried before it takes...

Re: Yet Another One-shot Repository (New Entry 10/23/18)

It's not so unusual to say what you're thinking about instead of what you're supposed to be talking about, happens to me all the chocolate biscuits

Miki must be in full-on troll mode though, most of the time she thinks surnames are too stuffy...

Re: Arrival

Dammit you've done a brythain, written something that I like very much but didn't enjoy! Who could enjoy the thought of Hanako alone and hungry, believing that she'd messed up when in reality she'd been extremely brave to go and meet Yasuda?! I did enjoy all the little details you included, they rea...

Re: Yet another one-shot thread

Thank-you for the kind words! Koki almost writes himself and he ages well... I've got outlines in my queue for a couple more stories about the trio but I appreciate that it's not a particularly well received theme so I won't flood the place with them! But i think there are interesting things to expl...

Tokyo nightlife

Koki looks around the rabbit warren of streets on the edge of Tokyo's Shimokitazawa district, trying to spot the bar that Miki had chosen for their night out. As always when in public he is conscious of his size, uncomfortable with the attention that his height and bulk attract. He is careful to avo...

Re: Arrival

I really enjoyed this, thanks for posting it! I found it very relatable in the sense that it's a situation that most of us have dealt with - moving out somewhere new, perhaps halls of residence at university, and not knowing anyone. Of course for most of us it wasn't as big a deal as it is for Hanak...

Re: Yet another one-shot thread

You've zoomed in on the significant factors and in the spirit of constructive discussion, as opposed to me trying to argue that I'm "right", here's my thinking The key difference for me between Natsume and the other girls is that she has a progressive, degenerative disease - Lilly isn't going to get...
