I was curious about VN games and maybe even dating sims simply for the fact that as someone who has played video games all his life had never played a VN.

So I took to Steam and asked for suggestions and this was the very first one suggested to me.

Not willing to research through the 100 so suggestions I figured I'd just get started. While I was taken a little off guard by the nature of the story I really enjoyed it quit a bit.

So why are you here?

Post by AaronIsCrunchy »

Why did you decide to play KS?
I'd been on /b/ for a few years (underage b& and all that) but I noticed there was barely ever a time that there wasn't a thread for this. Naturally, I had a look, but I just got lost so quickly that I figured I wasn't gonna get any clues from there.

So naturally, Wikipedia. I'd never played a VN before, and the idea of choice-based things had long fascinated me. I figured I'd been about long enough to just ignore the cripple porn (how wrong I was anyway xD) and I didn't have a clue about feels, so I think the choice-based thing probably was the blue-touch paper.

I was surfing YouTube (the "When I'm X" fad) and ran into this video. I investigated the source of the images, found the game, and downloaded it. Some time after beating my third route, I ran into the forums while looking up info on the three I'd already completed. The rest is history.

One of my former students, just entering college, told me about it. He didn't say anything much else, just to try it and see. I played it almost non-stop for a week, taking breaks only for work. Along the way I stumbled into these forums. Now you're stuck with me… :D

Saw one of the 'funny' images posted to Reddit (the image from where Emi first crashes into you, with an added dialogue option along the lines of querying whether she was born in a minefield), which led to the game, which led to a very late night with a playthrough and tears in the eyes when Lilly appeared gone forever after the heart attack in the airport.

Well to be honest, I was looking at a reddit thread where people were posting their favorite "porn" games when someone linked Katawa Shoujo saying something along the lines of "It's not really a porn game but it contains sex scenes.", alot of the replies to his comment included the words "Them feels" which piqued my interest. I looked it up and it didn't really seem like anything I would enjoy alot but luckily for me I was terrible bored at the time and decided to give it a try. I am so happy I was bored that day.

Playing through Katawa Shoujo was probably one of the most emotional times I have ever been through in any sort of media, I did Hanako first and got her good ending on the first time. By the time it was over I must have been stunned or something because I felt relatively fine although emotional so I decided to just go to bed while pondering the game. It was waking up the day after that was the worst, I was completely heart broken and got so depressed, even though it was a good ending I just felt so heart broken for many different reasons, spent the day walking in the rain until I eventually ended up back at my computer where I googled Katawa Shoujo curious if I was alone in feeling like this, I found these forums and realised I wasn't, I lurked for a few days before finally signing up a little while ago.

Despite how miserable I felt after finishing the game/novel I am so happy I got to experience such a work of art like this. I haven't had the strength to start the game up again yet in order to go through the other routes. I feel like I would betray Hanako at the same time as I am not sure if I could handle so many emotions again so soon. But I am most definetly going to do it eventually.

Saw a KSG thread on /b/, thought it looked interesting. Found out I could have an android port (Which i now know is not official or really allowed) of it so installed it on my tablet for my trip to america. Forgot about it until the second week of the trip, played Emis route in a day, got good ending. Blasted out the other routes in the next few days (Finished Lillys and Shizunes in the same day, got the double dose of feels and went to bed that night with ks completely in my head).

Replayed all the routes a week later over a few days to see anything i missed first time, then started to work towards 100%.

Found myself on the forum by running into it when searching up ks.

My freind thought Id like it .He didnt go on to tell me it was a vn and basically the only reason he wanted me to play it was because a girl in it had, as he calls it, "that weird eye thing you have" (What he means is hetrochromia)

I actually found myself elsewhere, so I can't speak for the many who have found themselves here.

A friend was stupid (definitely not being nice and offering a lot for nothing, he was just stupid) enough to offer me PAYDAY 2 if I played KS. At first I was sceptical but then thought, "hey, free Bank Robbing Simulator 2014!"

I would now like to give a Nobel Prize to that friend.

Shortly after I played, I stumbled along the internet, looking for KS stuff, and eventually found the forums.

I was browsing TV tropes and stumbled upon the page for KS. I checked it out and downloaded the game as something for a rainy day. A few weeks later I got bored and decided to play. I found the forums while looking for fanfiction.
