Re: After the Dream—Hanako's Arc (Part 6 up 20140322)
Color theory is important to me, and I didn't want her to share a palette with any of the Main Five. This is among the reasons I gave Aiko mid-range brown hair, Amaya and Tadao jet black, Kenta sandy-brown, Yoko fiery red, and Naoko forest green; not one of them shares hair color with the original ...

Re: After the Dream—Hanako's Arc (Part 6 up 20140322)
Iwanako can look however you decide. The only canonical feature is her long, dark hair, and modern cosmetology can alter that extensively, so she's a blank slate. Aside from being female, you can pretty much make up whatever appearance you want, which you can then wield as a literary device to meet ...

Re: Yamaku Book Club
I think if a story is still being bumped to the front page, its eligibility should be considered based on a few factors: 1) Is this a necro? For our purposes, we'll consider a "necro" a story that is either finished or has been abandoned by its author, and only graces the front page curren...

Re: A pseudo-pseudo Suzu route (completed)
Oh is that supposed to be Suzu with her brother? Yeah, he was only a year older than her. I was thinking you were drawing a rather masculine Suzu with a child - perhaps her and Hisao's?
Very confusing.

Re: Yamaku Book Club
I actually have a fondness for fan fiction stories that hide who the subjects are until enough information has been revealed. It isn't always done well. I remember one where the narrator turned out to be Hanako, but she called Hisao "Hicchan" during it, naturally leading the readers to th...

Re: Yamaku Book Club
No. I refuse. I'm not rereading a section of KS for no good reason.

Re: Yamaku Book Club
I think what bothers me about this one is that it's not really a story , so to speak. There is a monologue, and it all occurs within one fixed point in time. I'm not saying that it isn't a thing , just that the overall style doesn't suit my fancy. It sort of reads like an excerpt from a larger stor...

she would meet a different group of people then she did in USM. Good bye... It was nice knowing you... Oh wait, he said "If I have to correct!" Seems I just saved your life ;-) My wrath is delayed, then. Seriously, though, haven't you noticed that, despite being corrected about a thousand...

Re: Yamaku Book Club
Usually I'm not one to suggest such a thing - I'm really not fond of Lilly-centric tales - but this piece may have been a lot more interesting and less cliche had its roles been reversed; if it were Lilly lying awake pondering the incorruptible beauty of Hanako, it might make enough of a reversal fo...

“You’re going to be working at a nuclear power plant some day,” I countered, “I’d rather deal with teenagers any day then that.” I swear to God, Allah, and all the minor and major deities of the Greek and Roman pagan religions... I will murder you in your sleep if I have to correct another THAN. *g...

Re: After the Dream—Hanako's Arc (Part 5 up 20140320)
Not very nice to start posting this whilst I was on an MMO-induced hiatus from reality - seriously, though, y'all should try The Secret World - but I can forgive such inconsiderate actions due to its somber excellence. Writing Hanako as a writer is something I've tried to do for my part, though I ne...

Re: Yamaku Book Club
Okay, in the interest of saving time and your eyes, I'll be blunt. I disliked this story. Essentially it's someone rewriting KS set 20 years in the future using a senselessly downtrodden protagonist; he's an emo kid who makes his life sound worse just to get attention, which is a cardinal sin in my ...

Re: The Wake/Ruthenium: Two AtD Hisao One-Shots
Y'know your little discussions with the character are something I end up having happen in my head, especially after writing a dialogue-heavy scene. Did you know that Shizune can run her fingernails down a chalk board without even flinching - it's grating, terrifying and hot. In case you're wondering...

Re: Yamaku Book Club
I'm gonna go based on my memory of reading it... a year ago? Honestly, it had a lot of issues with consistently - which the author admitted readily - and I don't feel like getting a stress headache from rereading them.
