Re: Just finished KS華子.

Yes, "ko" is a specifically female diminutive suffix, so you could translate it that way. Do the KS team use those kanji for Emi's name? It's rather unorthodox, usually I see it written as "beautiful blessing" or something to that effect (the Japanese equivalent of naming someone...

Re: Have you dated someone like any KS character?

snip That's a story of a kind I've heard before. I know a recently married couple with similar issues: the husband has confided in me that he doesn't find his wife terribly attractive. I don't get the impression that your fixation on NordicGirl could possibly have much to do with her, at this point...

Little Flower, literally. Suitable name.

I've definitely got to remember that.
I should clarify that it's not perfectly translatable as "子" ("ko") is a diminutive suffix, which we don't have in English, so the closest one can get is "little".

Re: Japanese language Q&A

I never claimed my examples were "the best"... With four of your five examples I don't see the difference between my examples and yours, except that the "i" in "she" is a bit longer than in "hit". http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/IPA_chart_2...

Re: Sisterhood (Hanako Epilogue) (Completed)

This was brilliant. Shout out to pandaphil for making me aware of this. I am thoroughly impressed with how well you understand the characters, from sensing the same emotional wall Lilly was keeping up between herself and her friends that I did to the way you had them reconcile differences that were ...

Re: Japanese language Q&A

Just wanted to pop in here with a comment/question. From what I remember of my one semester of Japanese in community college, there's no real difference between the letters 'r' and 'l' in Japanese, and when pronounced, they sound like something in between, correct? So Rin, who I most often hear pro...

Re: Hanako and Lilly having sex [Warning: Pure Yuri]

The suggestion to read more is a great one, but I don't think you even need to emphasize any particular genre, you never know what you'll gain from a story well told. Also try writing different sorts of material. Write fiction, write reviews, write editorials, write as much as possible. Try reading ...

Re: Have you dated someone like any KS character?

Oh, he got'chu. But that could open up to the possibility that Jigoro is asexual, and...Well, Hideaki and Shizune are self-explanatory. Meh. It's so perfect that it must be true. Ladies love the Jigoro. And now that you mention it, I can almost imagine he has his women wear a mask with his face on ...

Re: The Devotion Sickness

To me that's the only weakness in KS. You keep encountering the other girls and getting swamped with memories of your previous arcs. This is something I brought up in my first thread, too. As I said there, it seems to be a natural consequence of the medium and not something that can be overcome exc...

Well, he was already exercising before he decided to try to show off. :P And he didn't know his heart would act up so badly...Fair enough. But a smoker doesn't know exactly which cigarette will put cancer into them either. Does that absolve them of their stupid risky actions? He knew the general ri...

Re: Have you dated someone like any KS character?

Well, opposites attract right? Scientifically speaking. Doesn't really imply that attraction leads to understanding, though. People are opposites for a reason, whether for good or bad ones in a relationship. Now you're sounding more like Hisao. There's something to the idea that opposites att...

Re: Your first ending?

That's... All true. There comes a point at which one must stop trying to defend the indefensible. Still, exercising to the point of almost dying is better than not... exercising and.... dying later?

He didn't know he was going to nearly die!
